The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has promised to support the country’s Surfing Federation in developing the sport in Nigeria.

The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has promised to support the country’s Surfing Federation in developing the sport in Nigeria.

NOC’s General Manager, Emmanuel Nweri, told some visiting foreign surfing experts, yesterday, that the Committee would collaborate with the Nigeria Surfing Federation (NSF) to develop the sport the way it has been doing to other federations.

NSF President, Prince Adewale Fawe and the technical Director, John Micheleti, led the visiting team on the visit to the NOC.

Nweri, who spoke on behalf of NOC Secretary General, Olabanji Oladapo, alongside Augustine Odijie and Mrs. Deborah Chidobi, emphasised the need for the Federation to follow laid down rules and regulation to get desired recognition from the Committee.

Responding, the technical Director, Mr. John Micheleti, said the two experts, Mr. Van den Broek Jahannes Hendrik (Netherland) and Norway-based Shannon Ainslie from South Africa, are in the country to teach Nigerian officials and athletes the latest technicalities and life saving aspects of surfing as a sport.
