The Ondo State government will reward the winners of the Ondo Auto Rally with N10 million, Director, Business Development and Investment Management, Ondo State Development Agency, ONDIPA, Femi Akarakiri, has said.

The 2026 Ondo Auto Rally, which has grown into one of the biggest tourist attractions in the state, has over the years enjoyed government support.

According to the president of the organising team, Work n Play, Adeoye Ojuoko, beyond the financial support, the state has also approved the use of a portion of the state capital for the drag race, where locally designed and built race cars would be lined up.
Ojuoko said: “This year’s event marks the ninth edition, focusing on promoting tourism and culture through local content, including locally built racing cars and sporting infrastructure development.

“The event, scheduled for April 4, 2026, in Akure and Ilara-mokin, Ondo State, is themed “Greatest Show on Wheels.”
Part of the activities lined up for the rally is the Drag Race, where locally built performance vehicles would be featured and the MTB XCE Cycling Competition for cycling enthusiasts at the event.

The event will also feature a tree planting event to underscore environmental sustainability and finally an Air show where locally built drones will be on display

According to Ojuoko, this event built on the need to showcase Nigeria’s growing automotive engineering capacity and innovation, has grown to become one of the country’s key motorsport activities on the basis of footfall and levels tourist impact.
