Cameroon’s Litto Volleyball Club, yesterday, in Abuja, defeated Nigeria’s Chief of Naval Staff Volleyball Club 3-1 (25-22, 25-18, 18-25, 25-17) to qualify for the quarterfinals of the ongoing African Inter-Club Volleyball Championship holding at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
The match featured a series of thrilling rallies, with both sides going on the offensive from the serve off. Litto looked sharp early on, trading points with CNS before delivering a powerful spike at set point to clinch the opener 25-22.
It was much closer in the beginning of the second set, but LTV came out narrowly on top with quick attacks and well-crafted blocks helping them to extend the lead.
CNS pulled closer with a monster block showing their fighting spirit, but LTV closed the set out 25-18.
In the third set, CNS piled on the pressure when LTV seemed to run out of steam, with good spiking and an ace giving them a 14-7 lead. The Nigerians eventually won the set CNS 25-18.
It was all to play for in the fourth set, but at the end, LTV won the set 25-18 to seal the contest 3-1 and qualify for the quarterfinals at the expense of their Nigerian counterparts.
