RCCG partners Premier Skills Academy on sports, youth development

As part of its Christian Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Love Assembly Parish has partnered Premier Skills Academy, Agege, Lagos for its 2019 gala football fiesta aimed at identifying and grooming football talents, as well as engaging them positively in the area.

At the Nojiu Kenku High School pitch, Oniwaya, Agege venue of the football fiesta, over 100 youths had the opportunity to showcase their skills.

At the end of the vent, Assistant Pastor-in-Charge of Province 67, Pastor Lanipekun Lawal enjoined the youths to shun social vices and develop their God given talents, which guarantees a successful career.

According to him, engaging the energy-filled youths in sporting activities would reduce idleness, which in turn curtails violence and crime in the society.

He said: “There are hundreds of youths who participated in this football fiesta. Having been fully involved, it is rare to still have them go back to crimes. This is part of the reasons the church partners with Premier Skills to identify and groom football talents among the young ones.”

He admonished the youths: “Despite your talent, never forget you can only go far when you factor God in your career. God gave you the talent and always serve Him everyday of your life.”

The coach of the academy, Moses Adepoju disclosed that the programme was a partnership between the British Council and the Premier League, using football as a tool to empower young people around the world.
