Safety Shooters, Imo Grasshoppers shine on Day One

Safety Shooters, Lagos Seasiders, Kano Pillars, Safety Babes and Imo Grasshoppers won their opening fixtures yesterday at the on-going Prudent Energy Handball Premier League

Safety Shooters, Lagos Seasiders, Kano Pillars, Safety Babes and Imo Grasshoppers won their opening fixtures yesterday at the on-going Prudent Energy Handball Premier League holding at the Indoor Sports Hall, Package B of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.  
 
The defending champions in the male event, Safety Shooters handed Plateau Vipers a 22 to 18 defeat, their first since the current sponsor, Prudent Energy took over the funding of the premier league.

 
In the other men’s games, Lagos Seasiders narrowly beat De Defenders 22 to 21, just as Kano Pillars humbled Confluence Stars 29 to 26 played yesterday.
 
In the women class, Safety Babes opened their account by defeating Kada Stars 24 to 17, while Imo Grasshoppers had no mercy over a new entrant to the premier league, Bayelsa Queens, who they beat 36 to 26.
 
Day two of the championship will begin today with Kada Stars taking on Safety Shooters in the first match, while Plateau Vipers will slug it out with Niger United, as Kano Pillars battle De Defenders.
 
Other games are Police Machines against Lagos Seasiders and Tojemarine Academy against old warhorse, Confluence Stars.
 
In the women battles, Imo Grasshoppers will square up with Edo Dynamos, defending champions, Adorable Angels, will meet Defenders Babes, while COAS Shooters have a date against Rima Babes.
 
Other games are Bayelsa Queens against Safety Babes, Kada Queens versus Seasider Babes and Confluence Queens against Plateau Peacocks.
