Southgate persuades Ademola Lookman to shun Nigeria
England Manager, Gareth Southgate has stepped up moves top convince Everton winger, Ademola Lookman to commit shun Nigeria’s advances and commit his international future to The Three Lions.
Following recent reports that Lookman, whose parents are Nigerians, could dump England for the Super Eagles, Southgate revealed that the diminutive star, who spent last season on loan at RB Leipzig of Germany, would be made to drop the idea.
Southgate acknowledged Lookman’s potential, adding that the youngster has a great future ahead of him with The Three Lions.Lookman has already played for England youth teams in official matches, and recently started for The Young Lions in a European U21 Championship qualifier against Latvia, after which Southgate has now hinted the lad should get an accelerated promotion.
”I know every country is quite aggressive in their recruiting and I know they have always had an interest in him, but he is playing and has been in our squads, the 20s, 21s.”So in terms of encouragement through game time, we are doing as much as we possibly can,” Southgate submitted.
