As part of their preparations for the forthcoming African Women’s Cup of Nations, the Super Falcons will host the Indomitable Lionesses in a friendly game at the MKO Abiola International Sports Centre, Abeokuta, today.
The newly remodeled 10,000-capacity MKO Abiola Sports Centre, which just hosted the 22nd National Sports Festival, is the venue for the game slated to start by 4.00 p.m.
The international friendly was initially scheduled as a two-leg showdown between the two female heavyweight football teams in Ikenne and Abeokuta but was reduced to a single high-profile encounter due to logistic issues.
The Cameroonian delegation, which was expected to arrive on Thursday, arrived in Lagos on Saturday morning.
Upon arrival, the team headed to their base in Ijebu-Ode.
The Cameroonian squad includes 24 players drawn from a mix of foreign-based talent and local stars from the country’s Guinness Super League.
For Cameroon, the game offers a much-needed opportunity to reset and begin preparations for the 2026 WAFCON qualifiers, having failed to qualify for the 2024 edition.
The match in Abeokuta will not only test the form and resolve of both teams but will also offer fans a preview of what may lie ahead in future continental contests.
