TCCG FC of Ikorodu, at the weekend, defeated Real United of Yaba 2-0 to win the second Tajudeen Ajide/APFAN U-20 Football Championship at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium Lagos.

TCCG FC of Ikorodu, at the weekend, defeated Real United of Yaba 2-0 to win the second Tajudeen Ajide/APFAN U-20 Football Championship at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium Lagos.

Proprietor of TCCG, Prophet Olufemi Otusanya (Omomajemu), was on the ground to lead supporters of his team as they romped to victory.

The championship, which also saw Sweep FC defeat FC Touch 2-0 to win the third place, was filled with fanfare as the top four teams earned branded jerseys donated by the competition sponsor, an ex-international, who is also a former chairman of Surulere Local Council, to encourage players chasing their dreams as professional footballers.

Ajide, who was present to hand over trophies to the winners, praised the participating teams and organisers of the event, the Association of Proprietors of Football Academies of Nigeria (APFAN), for putting up the championship.

“As a former player, events like this usually bring back good memories because most top Nigerian players played on this same pitch growing up.

“I am happy that I have been able to contribute to the development of Nigerian youths. I will not relent in continuing to support football development because it is my passion.”

APFAN National President, Dr. Francis Akinremi, thanked Ajide for encouraging upcoming players for future benefit.

“APFAN has agreed to step up and upgrade the exceptional and talented players to the next level on and before the third edition. We have also concluded arrangements for the Olubayo U-17 competition, which is next on our calendar,” he said.
