Tinubu celebrates Super Falcons, describes victory as symbol of Nigerian spirit

President Bola Tinubu has commended Nigeria’s national women’s football team, the Super Falcons, for their victory in the final of the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Super Falcons defeated Morocco 3-2 in the final match played on Saturday night in Rabat, securing their 10th continental title.

Tinubu, in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, says the win is an example of the determination that defines the Nigerian spirit.

He also lauded the team for their “hard work, dedication, and tenacity”, adding that the nation had prayed for and now celebrates their achievement.

President Tinubu says, “The Super Falcons’ spectacular performance tonight in Rabat, coming from behind to beat a spirited Moroccan side playing in front of a passionate home crowd, exemplifies the determination that defines the Nigerian spirit.”

“With hard work, dedication, and tenacity, you have achieved the mission the nation dreamed of and prayed for. The nation looks forward to welcoming our champions. Congratulations! Nigeria celebrates you.”
