The book of Psalm 23 :1 -3. Says: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures … he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

The book of Psalm 23 :1 -3. Says: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures … he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” It is clear from this reading that man was not created to function and prosper independently without a shepherd to guide him into the right places and to take right decisions that will help him fulfil his destiny and live a better life. The Holy Spirit of God is his guide. It is only when you are led by the Spirit that you are a son of God. Romans 8:14

For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. In the beginning, God guided man by directing him on what to do and how to go about life that he may fulfil his purpose and enjoy a life of dominion and prosperity without hindrance. It’s important to note here that God has not created man to lack, but to live in abundance, as he has provided all that they may ever need before he placed him in the middle of the Garden. This is the reason the natural man cannot be comfortable in lack, as he sees it as suffering of his body and soul, hence he goes about seeking greener pastures. But this is not possible without a higher spiritual guidance. He needs spiritual assistance, but in most cases, he goes to the wrong places because the true spirit assistance he needs is the Holy Spirit, which God promised to be poured out on all men at the last days. (Joe 2:28): “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; Jesus confirmed in John 14:26. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

It’s clear here that only the Holy Spirit can bring to your remembrance and understanding all what the Creator has programmed into your destiny. It is so important for the Holy Spirit to come that Jesus had to go in order to send it our way (John 16:7). This was fulfilled in the days of the early Church. And suddenly, there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. (Act 2: 2, 16 – 17). The Holy Spirit is the driving force behind a man’s successful life. A man without the leading of the Holy Spirit is like a car without fuel in its tank because no matter how efficient the car may be, it will not perform maximally. Many a time, we find ourselves doing things on our own, taking important decisions like what to do, who to marry, where to go or stay, among others, without checking out if it is God’s Will or not.

It is the Holy Spirit that knows the mind of God for us; hence only Him can lead us into the places God has prepared for us. Only God’s blessings are true and pure. 1Co 2:11, says: “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man, which is in him? Even so, the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.” Once you are led by the Holy Spirit, you are already a success. Zch 4:6 says your success is not guaranteed by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

Now that we know that we can’t succeed without the leading of the Holy Spirit, let’s check out how we can involve Him to lead us throughout our lifetime, starting from this year. First, you have to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour, as He is the only One Who could pray to the Father to give you the Holy Spirit.

Secondly, you will have to desire it and then by prayer, ask for it. Luke 11:13, says: “If ye then, being evil know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?”

Thirdly, you will be ready to study His word and obey them as stated in Joshua Jos 1:8: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Finally, we will have to stop satisfying the flesh because when you obey the flesh, then you dispel the Spirit of God from working with you.
