Growth and movement are part of the distinct features that characterises living organisms.

Growth and movement are part of the distinct features that characterises living organisms. Movement is the ability of an organism to move from one place to the other, while growth is its ability to increase in size or height. Trapped within any man is the natural ability to increase— spiritually, physically, mentally, socially, and relationally. The extent of a man’s growth determines how he or she can advance. Growth and movement are connected.

In 1Cor 13:11, Apostle Paul said, “When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.”

There is a way a child behaves because he is a child. When an adult still behaves like a child, it becomes a prayer point. You cannot advance beyond your level of growth. In Luke 1:80, the account of John’s development was given, “And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel”.

Until John grew and waxed strong in the spirit, he could not advance in his assignment. The same thing was recorded of our Lord Jesus Christ in Luke 2:52 “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man”. (KJV)
He matured, growing up in spirit and body, blessed by both God and Man, (MSG)

The level of maturity determines the level of exploits and impact.

You cannot go further than what you know. How much you know determines how much you can do. You cannot think like a child and do what adults do. Progress does not come by chance, luck, or wishes. It answers to understanding and action. You are not only to grow old, but to grow up. Everybody is advancing in age, but not everybody is advancing in greatness. As your days are, so is your strength expected to be. Your strength is a function of your knowledge. Your strength talks about your weight, impact, voice, and influence in life. Let your days have a corresponding result to show. We must grow up in Him that we may not be tossed around like children that have no solid direction.

Growth is an everyday affair. A baby grows and becomes a child, an adolescent, and then an adult. A female child grows and gradually develops breasts and starts her period. A male child grows and his voice gradually deepens. But growth should not be physiological or anatomical alone. It is important that we increase both vertically and horizontally. Vertically towards God, growing upward and horizontally, towards our effects as it relates to humanity.
