Text: John 3:1-7; Acts 16:16-31
Key Verse: Acts 16:30, “And he brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” (KJV)

Some people live in sin and they are rushing down the steep slope that goes to Hell, but God is not interested in the death of sinners but that all men should be saved (Ezekiel 33:11). God wants us to reach out and preach; He wants us to pray and He wants us to do all we can to bring Jesus to the fore in people’s lives, which is what the church is all about.

Nicodemus was a ruler of the Jews, but he did not understand what the new birth is. He had not heard the Word of God and allowed the Word of God to be pressed upon him and then had what is called godly sorrow. The Apostle Paul speaks of godly sorrow, writing to the Corinthians and he said that godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation (2 Corinthians 7:10). When a man hears the Word of God and has godly sorrow, he will ask himself, why am I like this? Why am I not the man God wants me to be? Why is my life contrary to the Scriptures? He would say to himself, my life is full of pretence; my life is full of deceit, my life is full of hypocrisy, my life is full of sin, the devil has taken over my life, I am bound in chains, I am in fetters of the devil and I want to be free. No man can be free until he desires to be free.

Any man who is enjoying the sinful life will never be saved. Any man who continues playing pranks with sin, who is hiding it and pushing it away will never be saved. Salvation is God’s Will for us. God is ready to save at any time, no matter what the sin is; no matter how strong it is, no matter for how long it has held the person captive and no matter people feel that the person can’t be saved, he can be saved and God is ready to do it if the person is ready, and there is godly sorrow and the person now has been quickened by the Holy Spirit. The Bible tells us that it is the Holy Spirit that convicts us of our lives of sin and it is the same Holy Spirit that will show us the Saviour and lead us to the way out of sin (John 16:8).

The majority is going by the broad way and the wide gate that leads to hell; that allows anything and everything (Mathew 7:13-14). It allows anything and everything and those who enter through it will be defending themselves, they will be asking you questions when you counter their lives of sin and they will be calling you names, because they are going on the broad way. But the Bible said, enter through the narrow way and small gate that leads to eternal life, and there are few who are finding it.

The Jailer in fear and trembling asked Paul and Silas, “Sirs, What must I do to be saved?” They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved – you and your household”. I am begging you, remove yourself from the wide gate; remove yourself from the broad way.

It leads to damnation, it leads to hell and to eternal suffering and weeping. I beg you in the name of Jesus Christ, get out of the broad way. You have an opportunity today, come over, the narrow may be difficult and challenging, but that is God’s way.
