Jesus is the Great Shepherd; He is the Only Shepherd. In John Chapter 10, Jesus said: “I know my sheep and my sheep know me and my sheep don’t listen to the voice of strangers.” There are many voices in the world, today, as the Apostle John tells us, but we are to always differentiate the voice of Jesus from that of the Devil.

While Apostle Paul was speaking to the Corinthian church, he said sometimes the Devil comes as an angel of light to perpetuate evil. However, no matter His efforts at portraying Himself as an angel of light, He will never succeed (2 Corinthian 11:14). God helps us to see through the intentions of the Devil and with this understanding we can identify His tricks and then His voice. We can through this, differentiate the Devil’s voice from Our, Master, Jesus’s own. We can identify our Master’s ways and pattern of doing things.

I implore you to give your life completely to Jesus today. Let Him be the Shepherd of your life and soul. One beautiful Christian hymn says: “Jesus, lover of my soul, let me to thy bosom fly, while the nearer waters roll, while the tempest still is high; hide me, O my Saviour, hide till the storm of life is past; safe into the Haven guide, O receive my soul at last.”

The psalmist says the Lord is my shepherd and I shall not want. With Jesus as your Shepherd and you as a sheep, you will never lack anything good. By the grace of God, you will not want for good health, you will not want for joy, you will not want for peace, you will not want for prosperity that God brings into your life, you will not want for mercies of God, you will not want for divine favour and for beautiful relationship where it matters with God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. You will not want any good thing because the Lord will provide them for you.

The Psalmist says that He makes me lie down in green pastures; a green grass and what could the sheep ask for again! (Psalm 23:2a). You have a Shepherd who knows where He is going to; you have a shepherd who knows the way and how to take you to where you are going. You have a shepherd who knows where the green grass is; He will lead you there and you will feed in peace.

The psalmist says that He leads me beside the still waters (Psalm 23:2b). He leads and you follow. A beautiful hymn says: “My Lord knows the way through the wilderness, all I have to do is to follow.” Another beautiful hymn says: “Where He may lead me, I will go, for I have learned to trust Him so, and I remember it was for me that He was slain on Calvary.” He leads me beside the still waters; quiet waters, not ruffled for anything, peace and quiet. Jesus leads me in that type of environment.

The psalmist says, He leads me in the paths of righteousness, that is right relationship with God (Psalm 23:3). It is a thing of joy to have right relationship with God. That relationship starts when you acknowledge that you are a sinner and that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. A beautiful hymn says, “move on to the righteous side with God” for God is going to do a great thing in your life.
