Purity of heart is an attribute of God, hence He is always interested on the state of the heart of man in relation to its cleanliness and purity. A pure heart holds nothing against anybody, as it is always in the pure state God created it. A pure heart has no deceit or grudges against anyone. The heart of a child is as sinless as God created it. That is why the Bible noted that the kingdom of God is for the people whose are like that of children.
God assesses man by the state of his heart. God, therefore, looks at the heart whenever He wants to assess any man and what the person will likely do in the promotion of God’s kingdom. It is only the people whose minds are pure will make heaven at the end of their lives on earth. The Bible, therefore, is clear in Matthew 5:8-12, when it says:“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.9: Blessed are the peacemakers: forthey shall be called the children of God.10: Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.11: Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.12: Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”
Everything about the reward for purity of heart points to God and the kingdom of heaven. The pure in heart are sure to see God, their maker. They will make heaven where they will see God and will continue the exercise of purity that had manifested in good works and the advancement of God’s kingdom both in heaven and on earth.
In God’s kingdom in heaven there is always joy every time kingdom bound citizens praise and worship Him. That is why our Lord Jesus Christ likened the people who will make heaven to the nature of children. Children are always happy; even when you offend them, they will cry and after that, forget whatever that must have transpired between you and them and become your friend again. Such life is harbinger of peace and harmony at all times. It is these attributes that God wants the people who will return to heaven or be with Christ forever to possess. It is this class of people with child-like mind that God appoints to lead His people. He knows them through their hearts.
In the lead scripture,God was emphatic in telling Prophet Samuel that He looks into the heart of a man prior to appointing him into leadership position. He was actually about anointing a king for His people, the Israelites. Despite the fact there were six tall and handsome sons of Jesse physically present in the house, God chose the very last son, David, who was then a shepherd boy and still in the bush. God looked at his heart and it was proven to be pure based on his fellowship with God. God later described him as a man after His heart. It was through his lineage that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world came into the world. It is also noted that till day, the kingly lineage in Israel is still referred to as the Davidic dynasty. Though temporarily broken, the period of interregnum will end when the Lord returns. It is on David’s throne Our Lord Jesus Christ will sit to rule the world when He comes back in His glory for the millennial reign.
When an individual has a pure heart, he serves God without looking back. The things of God will always interest him and he would do the work of God as his father’s duty. The Spirit of God leads a man whose heart is pure and he manifests the fruits of the spirit. He eschews uttering evil words and embarking on devilish acts, including fornication, adultery, stealing, murder and any other bad acts against the will of God. He does not allow himself to be defiled by evil thoughts. This is why Matthew 15:18-20 says: “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.19: For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemy. 20: These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashed hands defileth not a man.” It is important, therefore, to strive for purity of heart by yielding yourself into the leading of the spirit of God because there is assurance that the pure in heart will see God. God’s blessings will follow those that render services to God with pure hearts on earth. When an individual seeks God and serves Him, all other things the person needs in life will naturally be added to him.
Again, God looks at the heart of a man before blessing him. However, there are people who will receive good things from God and will later backslide. Such people have allowed the culture and tradition of the world to carry them away. The people who are strong in the Lord will serve God, the more, with all their resources when the blessings will begin to flow into their lives. A genuine born again child of God is expected to be both responsible and trustworthy and also to live a holy life at all times. His yes should remain the same anywhere he goes and when he says no, his word shall be so. That is why the Bible admonishes us in 1Peter 1:15-16, saying:“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation. 16: Because it is written, be ye holy; for I am holy.” God expects everyone He created to be pure in heart and live a holy and righteous life, so that, we can make rapture and be with our Lord Jesus Christ forever.
At this juncture, I counsel you, if you are still in the world, wallowing in sin to repent now and embrace Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour. There is no more time. The signs of his coming are everywhere, so repent now before it is too late.
