Scanfrost, a home appliance brand, has reiterated part of its efforts to promote culinary entrepreneurs, showcase Nigerian cuisines and support the growth of the country’s cooking and food services industry, with its first Cookout Challenge in Nigeria.
The event brought together food lovers, young culinary talents, media, dealers, partners, management and invited guests for a live cooking competition designed to showcase creativity, everyday cooking skills and Scanfrost appliances in action.
The live finale followed an online challenge that attracted over 350 entries from participants across social media, with the top 10 finalists selected using defined criteria and judging metrics, before competing live for a share of N10 million in cash and Scanfrost gift prizes.
Igboeri Obianuju Jennifer, emerged winner of the competition, receiving N1.5 million cash, Scanfrost 9 Series Cooker, Scanfrost 5.5L Air Fryer and Scanfrost 25L Microwave with Grill and Digital Display
Anaeto Cynthia Chiamaka came second and received N1 million cash and Scanfrost 8 Series Gas Cooker, Henry Ugochukwu secured third position with N700,000 cash and Scanfrost 6 Series Gas Cooker, while the fourth to 10th participants got N200,000 cash and Scanfrost 5.5L Air Fryer each.
Speaking at the grand finale in Lagos, where the culinary talents showcased their cooking skills through a range of Nigerian dishes, the Assistant Vice President, ScanFrost, Ankur Kapoor, commended the participants, noting that the company conceived the initiative to demonstrate its commitment to the cooking ecosystem beyond the production and sale of kitchen appliances.
He said the company was also interested in identifying and promoting talented chefs, Nigerian cuisines and distinctive local flavours while creating opportunities for culinary enthusiasts and entrepreneurs to gain global recognition and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
On the rewards for participants, Kapoor disclosed that ScanFrost gave out cash and products worth about N10 million to the winners and finalists, explaining that the decision to reward all the finalists was based on the effort they had invested in the competition and their participation in the event.
Also speaking, Scanfrost Brand Ambassador and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, commended the initiative for empowering young talents and supporting entrepreneurship in Nigeria’s food and hospitality sector.
One of Scanfrost’s top Lagos dealers, Mrs. Tina Gupta, described the event as an important bridge between consumers, dealers and the brand.
