Evidence of wrong relationship – Part 5

A relationship where materials things and money are the only motivation and rated above spiritual thing.

The most important thing for any child of God should be their spiritual life. I am talking about your relationship with God. That must be our number one priority when it comes to making a decision on who to marry.

Rushing into a relationship with someone simply because he or she is okay materially and financially without bothering ourselves about his or her spiritual life is an indication of a wrong relationship. Do not be carried away by material wealth. That does not guarantee a secured future. Your future is more important than all you see today.

Do not underestimate what God can do in your life within a very short time. Jesus has this to say about anyone that places too much premium on material wealth in Luke12:15. Jesus said, “And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. (KJV).”

Making a decision to marry someone simply because he/she has a car, a good job, a good house or accommodation is not a good decision. It is not wrong to marry someone that is rich, wealthy or comfortable, but that should not be the factor you are considering to make the decision. It is our decision that determines our destiny. It is not all that glitters that are gold. I am not saying you should marry someone simply because he or she is poor. If that is the only reason, it will also amount to the wrong relationship. Whether a person is rich or poor, you must take time to consider other essential factors.

One thing you must understand is the fact that there is no amount of money or material wealth anyone is displaying before you today just to entice you that you cannot have tomorrow if you trust God and you are diligent enough. You will do yourself a great favour, if you make up your mind never to marry anyone just because of material possession. Your future is much more important than all these worldly goods. Refuse to underestimate what God can do in your life and with your life.

A man or a woman who successfully seduces you to marry him or she with material possession will have little or no respect or regard for you. They will only see you as one of their properties or possessions, which will go a long way in determining the way they will treat you. You might have suffered a lot in life, but refuse to write yourself off.
Relationship that is full of lies, deceptions, exaggerations, and flatteries:

Good relationship is always built on truth. When you are in a relationship that is void of truth and honesty, it is evidence of wrong relationships. Love and trust are the most important pillars of any lasting relationship, including marriage. We only build these pillars on the foundation of honesty and integrity. A liar cannot be trusted. There can be no true love, where there are falsehood and deceptions.
