God is able to turn our sorrow to joy

Brethren, notwithstanding the economic tension, political pressure and social nervousness in the society at this point in time, one thing that is undisputable is the fact that nothing takes God unawares. All things, including events, are subjected to His will. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the First cause and the Last end, the God Who knows the end from the beginning. That you are alive today is ascribed to His benevolence. It is not because you are careful, but because His compassion fails not.

If you are in agreement with this fact, then I want to assure you that the same God Who answered you before, made provision for you, delivered you from the hands of enemies in time past, cured you when you were sick and sustained you till date, is able to do it again in your life in Jesus name. It does not matter how bad the situation may be now, the degree of tension on our political horizon, or how powerful your enemy vis-à-vis the enemy of the country may be, the fact is that He has delivered you before, He has delivered the country before and He is able to deliver again even today in Jesus name.

Why are you threatened by the political tension? Understand that nothing happens without the permission of God Almighty. The politicians and economic engineers are not mightier than God. Why are you so disturbed that God Who brought you to this world will not give you your own husband/wife? Why are you afraid that God Who fed you yesterday will not feed you today? My friend, the God, Who did it before, will do it again. God will give you a peaceful answer today. He will turn your sorrow to joy.

The common problem of many people in this present day is that of failing to remember what the Lord did in the time of old as chronicled in the Bible and even in this present day in their lives. They all seem to have forgotten those wonderful works of Almighty God. When you hear many of such people murmuring and complaining of their present situations, the things they say at such times make one wonder if God is still in control of human affairs. Their attitude makes some people wonder if God is still alive or has changed. The same scenario played out in the days of Elijah.

1Kings 19:1-4 says, “And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword. 2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time. 3 And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beer-Sheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there. 4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.”

Elijah was known as a powerful prophet in his era. A Prophet who at his command made fire to come upon his enemies, a Prophet who slew more than four hundred prophets of Baal that challenged God Almighty’s supremacy. But with all these feats, this man couldn’t stand the threat of a woman; rather he ran away, murmured against God and even requested to die.

He didn’t remember what God had done before neither could he remember that God changes not. He had forgotten that the God Who did what Ahab mentioned to Jezebel could still do those things again and even better. Beloved, we serve a great and living God Who can do all things. If you can have this understanding, happy are you. Fear not for we have found ourselves in the same political and economic situation before and were delivered and even now, He is able to turn our sorrow to joy. This weekend, God will assuredly turn our sorrow to joy.
