Holy Spirit enables believers to do exploits for Christ — Adebayo
‘Those Without Holy Spirit Are Like Orphans, Without Parents’
Christians all over the globe celebrated Pentecost Day, last Sunday.
In his radio programme, hymns of praise on Metro 97.7FM Lagos, the Diocesan Bishop of St. James Cathedral, Anglican Communion, Iludun-Oro, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Rt. Rev. Jide Adebayo urged Christians to always seek help of the Holy Spirit in every area of their lives.
He said the gift of the Holy Spirit is for everybody, especially those who have repented of their sins and have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
He described the Holy Spirit as the believer’s power, Teacher, Advocate, Intercessor, Comforter, Helper and Counselor. The Bishop, who noted that those who live their lives without the Holy Spirit are like orphans, without parents to share their burden, said the Holy Spirit strengthens and enables believers to walk with the Lord, as they run the Christian race.
“Holy Spirit is often associated with fire. For instance, John the Baptist spoke about Jesus baptising people with the Holy Spirit and fire. Fire consumes impurities, iniquities and anxieties, even infirmities and indignities. When Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost, it appeared as tongues of fire and rested on each believer. It is also a reminder of what happened in the Old Testament, where Moses saw the burning bush, which later led the children of Israel through the desert,” he said.
The cleric prayed God to use the fire of the Holy Spirit to consume COVID-19 pandemic and flush it out of Nigeria and the entire world.
