Awake – Part 2
Today, Pentecostalism has been terribly abused and maligned by so many people. They speak in tongues, but they don’t show evidence of relationship with the Holy Spirit. They prophesy, but they do not show evidence that they are not men of the flesh, and they see visions, but they do not show evidence that they are not carnal people. We have been lulled into deep spiritual sleep and we need to awake.
Pentecostalism, to many people, has ended with speaking in tongues. “Speaking in tongues” is the initial physical evidence of the Holy Spirit, but this spiritual experience does not stop with just speaking in tongues. Speaking in tongues is just the beginning of this great spiritual experience, and there will be other things coming behind, which show the clear difference between a genuine child of God and an unbeliever.
We are partakers of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4). To be a partaker of the divine nature means that the characteristics of God’s nature are formed in you. You become a partaker of the divine nature by subjecting your flesh daily to sanctification, so that Christ is formed in you and you live a holy life because God is holy (Leviticus 11:45). To be holy is being set apart for the Lord’s use and not for the Devil’s use (Leviticus 20:26).
All creation is looking for people who are first child of God (Romans 8:19). The most important thing in your life is how much of Christ do you have in you and don’t bother about your position in church. People looking at you will not only want to see Christ, but they also want to see Pentecost. And if Pentecost is in your life the way it should be, the difference will be clear. 7up says the difference is clear. Let it be clear that there is a spiritual awakening in your life.
Beloved, are you lost to permanent spiritual sleep? It’s time to awake. The shipmaster told Jonah, wake up from your sleep and call upon your God, so that we don’t perish (Jonah 1:6). The Holy Spirit through the Apostles said, awake unto righteousness and Christ will give you light (Ephesians 5:14; 1 Corinthians 15:34). Let Christ be seen to be in charge, control, authority, and full possession of your life.
If we must awake, we must return to the Bible. We must find quality time to study the Bible. It is not what you preach to others, but what you want God to do in your life personally. You are supposed to be growing more than the people you are teaching. What has happened to your Bible study life? Do you have a regular Bible study schedule or are you very busy away from the Bible?
What has happened to your prayer life? If you must awake, you must also awake to prayers. It is not about teaching prayers, but also about getting involved in prayer yourself. You need to pay tithe of the twenty-four hours of the day to God in prayer. You should spend at least two hours and forty minutes daily in prayer. Pray for yourself, pray for your family, pray for the church and other people.
Awake unto salvation and allow Jesus to do a complete work in your life; awake unto righteousness; awake unto truth; awake unto holiness; awake unto honesty; awake unto God style of living and awake to winning of souls unto the Lord.
Today’s Nugget: Awake unto God style of living.
Prayer: Let Christ be formed in me in Jesus Name.
