Blessed are the pure in heart

Purity of heart is an attribute of God, hence He is always interested on the state of the heart of man in relation to its cleanliness and purpose. A pure heart holds nothing against anybody, as it is always in the state in which God created it. A pure heart has no deceit, no grudges against anyone. The heart of a child is as sinless as God created it. That is why the Bible makes it clear that the kingdom of God is for the people who are like children. The standing of a man with his God is assessed through the state of his heart. God, therefore, looks at the heart whenever He wants to assess any man and what the person will likely do in the promotion of the kingdom of heaven. It is only the people whose mind is pure that are going to make heaven hereafter.

The Bible, therefore, is clear in Matthew 5:8-12, when it says: “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.9: Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.10:Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.11: Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.12: Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”

Everything about the reward for purity of heart points to God and the kingdom of heaven. The pure in heart are sure to see God, their maker, and also make heaven and will continue to live in purity of heart, manifesting good works for the advancement of God’s kingdom both in heaven and on earth. In the kingdom of God in heaven, there is joy each time, as the kingdom citizens, you are in the presence of God; praising and worshipping Him. That is why our Lord Jesus Christ likened the people who will make heaven to the nature of children. Children are always happy; even when you offend them, they will cry and after that forget whatever that must have transpired between you and them and become your friend again. Such life is harbinger of peace and harmony at all times. It is these attributes that God wants the people who will return to heaven or be with Christ forever to possess. It is this class of people with child-like mind that God appoints to leadership of His people. He knows them by seeing their heart.

In the lead scriptureGod was emphatic in telling Prophet Samuel that He looks into the heart of a man prior to appointing him into any leadership position. He was actually about anointing a king for His people, the Israelites. Despite the fact there were six tall and handsome sons of Jesse physically present in the house, God chose the very last son, David, who was then a shepherd boy in the bush. God looked at his heart and it was proven because based on his fellowship with God, God later described him as a man after His heart. It was through his lineage our Lord Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the world, came into the world. It is also noted that till today, the kingly lineage in Israel is still referred to as the Davidic dynasty.

Though temporarily broken, but the period of interregnum will end when the Lord returns. It is on David’s throne Our Lord Jesus Christ will sit to rule the world when He comes back in His glory for the millennial reign.

When an individual has a pure heart, he serves God without looking back, the things of God will always interest him, hence, he does the work of God as his father’s duty. The man with a pureheart is led by the Spirit of God and manifests the fruits of the spirit. He eschews uttering evil words and embarking on devilish acts like fornication and adultery, stealing and murder and any other acts against God’s will. He does not allow himself to be defiled by evil thoughts.

That is why Matthew 15:18-20 says: “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.19: For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20: These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashed hands defileth not a man.” It is important, therefore, to strive for purity of heart by yielding yourself to the leading of the spirit of God because there is assurance that the pure in heart will see God. When rendering services to God with pure heart here on earth, the blessings of God will follow them. When an individual seeks God and serves Him, all other things the person needs in life will naturally be added unto him.

Again, God looks at the heart prior to blessing a man; there are people who will receive the good things from God,thereafter, backslide and allow themselves to be carried away by the culture and tradition of the world. The people who are strong in the Lord will serve God the more with all their resources when the blessings begin to flow into their lives. A genuine born again child of God is expected to be both responsible and trustworthy and live a holy life at all times, so that, his yes remains the same anywhere he goes and when he says no, the word will stands the test of time. That is why the Bible admonishes us in 1Peter 1:15-16:“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation. 16: Because it is written, be ye holy; for I am holy.” God expects everyone He created to be pure in heart and live a holy and righteous life,so, as to make rapture and be with our Lord Jesus Christ forever.

At this juncture, I counsel you, if you are still in the world, wallowing in sin, to repent now and embrace Jesus Christ, as your Lord and Saviour. There is no more time. The signs of his coming are everywhere, so, repent now before it is too late.Mark 8v36-37 warns: “For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul, or what shall a man give in exchange of his soul?”

Remember, though God is a merciful God, He is also a consuming fire. No man can withstand the fierceness of his anger, so repent now before it is too late. Heb9v27 says: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die and after this, the judgment.”The opportunity you have to make amend is now, for there is no repentance in the grave.
