“Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God” (Matthew 5:5,6,7,9).

Blessed are the children of God whom the Lord has called. When God calls you, He blesses and increases you. God called Abraham and Sarah. He never let them down, as He blessed and increased them on all sides. Blessed are those who have been called to please God by living a holy life, because they will see God in the end. Blessed are all who put their trust in God and live by faith, not giving in to the enemies’ temptations, knowing God will surely do what He has promised to do, since God never fails. Those who put their trust in men or their own wisdom fail in the end, as they don’t get to enjoy the blessings that come with making God their dependability. To overcome the devil, the Lord must be your strength. Blessed are those whose sins are forgiven. All have sinned and come short of God’s glory, but by His mercy, our sins are taken away, no matter how terrible they are. I beckon on the unsaved to come and enjoy these unlimited blessings. How grievous your previous sins won’t count, because the blood of Jesus will take them away. You will become a new man in Christ Jesus, and your guilt shall also vanish. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2Corinthians 5:17).

Blessed are those whom God disciplines. “Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty” (Job 5:17). Being corrected by God should be counted as a great privilege. Our flesh leads us astray at times, but God’s love always leads us back to the right way. He chastens us when we err, and teaches us His Laws and Commandments. God can also punish us in love, the same way a Godly parent will punish his/her child.

Blessed are those who suffer for Christ. “Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake” (Luke 6:22). People will hate you, mock you, bear false witness against you because you are a child of God. But you are blessed for bearing all the pains for Christ. Those who hear and keep God’s Commandments are blessed. We must not be hearers only, but doers of God’s Word. Reading the Word of God day and night is also mandatory. Revelation 22:7 says,  “Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.” Do we fear God and delight in His Commandments?

The pure in heart and the faithful will see God. “A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent” (Proverbs 28:20). “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him” (James 1:12). God knows about all our predicaments. Our labour for Christ is not in vain. A great reward awaits us.
