Breaking evil cycles – Part I

Bible Passage: Matthew 22:23-29
An evil cycle is a series of negative events that are regularly repeated. It can also be seen as evil events that occur in repeating consequences. The story in our Bible text in Matthew 22:23-29 gives us a clue of it. It is a true-life story that is still happening till date.

Here, we are presented with the case of a family of seven brothers. The first one got married after which he died without having a child. By their laws and tradition, the immediate younger brother was to take up the woman as wife, so, he can bear children for his late brother.

This he did, but died also without producing a child with the woman. The other brothers took turns sequentially on the same woman and all died unfulfilled after which the woman died also. There are lots of questions surrounding these mysterious events.

Why did she wait to die after a whole family of seven young men had been wiped out of history? How could six brothers have stuck their heads into the same thing that killed their eldest brother? What was so special about the woman that they could not let go and their lives had to go for it. There was obviously a pattern of foolishness in this family or a power pushing them through an evil cycle of sequential negative events. This exactly explains the situation that some persons or even families are experiencing today. May every cycle of repeated negative events in your life and family be broken today in Jesus’ name.

A lady cried to me some time ago for prayers and deliverance. She had been married to four men consecutively and each died mysteriously. After intense prayers, God intervened and the evil cycle was broken. May God frustrate every power manipulating evil cycles in your life in Jesus’ name. What happened in our Bible text was neither scientific nor medical; it was a spiritual issue. Jesus told them that it was an error on their part and they did nothing to stop the evil occurrence because they thought it was normal. When you observe such negative events repeat itself two, three, four times then note that it is demonic.

Many people are suffering in similar situations today because of ignorance. They never know that there is a power available to put an end to this, Isaiah 10:27. Dominion can only come to you through knowledge when you come to the point of realisation that what is happening to you is not normal. In Genesis 27:40, Esau was told that he can only break out of sufferings and servitude from his brother through dominion. May you receive the knowledge and dominion you need to break out of that evil cycle in Jesus’ name … Amen!

There are different manifestations of evil cycle in the lives of men and one of them is failure at the edge of success.

The impotent man in John 5:1-9 cried that whenever he was about to enter the pool, someone else would take his place. This occurred seasonally for 38 years; it was a cycle of near success syndrome. For some people, things appear to be going on well and suddenly failure strikes at the edge of breakthrough. The whole process is repeated and they find themselves moving in cycles.
