Christ Foundation installs new General Overseer

The Christ Foundation Gospel Church (INC) has installed Rev. Nathaniel Awofe Akintobi, as the new General Overseer, to succeed its late founder, Rev. Dr. Joseph Alamu Olusoji, who died last March.

The Christ Foundation Gospel Church (INC) has installed Rev. Nathaniel Awofe Akintobi, as the new General Overseer, to succeed its late founder, Rev. Dr. Joseph Alamu Olusoji, who died last March.

Akintobi, who was the Coordinating Supervisor in-charge of Arigbajo and Abeokuta Districts, Ogun State, until his emergence, joined the ministry in 1983 and became a pastor in 1992. Thereafter, he became a reverend and member, Church Board of Trustee in August 2007. He also served as the national youth leader between 2005 and 2009.

In his sermon, the Assistant General Overseer (AGO), Rev. Taiwo Balogun, who performed the ordination, enjoined the new general overseer to be courageous, in order to move the ministry to another level.

Quoting Psalm 37: 5, 6, Balogun advised the new general overseer to always seek God’s advice and not to put his trust in any man, assuring that through that he will not be put to shame.

“You need to always commit your ways into God’s Hands, because you can only do little on your own. But if you make it a point of duty to always commit your ways and seek God’s advice, without putting your trust in anybody, you would not be put to shame.”

He appealed to members to eschew all acts that are capable of hindering the church’s progress.

Balogun, who said that during a meeting, the late founder, together with the members and trustees, had on March 5, disclosed that he had chosen his successor, who he did not name then. He warned that since God had chosen Akintobi, nobody should do anything against His decision, noting that all acts that is against God’s Will should be avoided.

“I want everybody to cooperate with him, in order to elevate this church to another level. All side talks, backbiting and rebellious attitudes should be totally eschewed. This is a new era and you should renew your spirit, as well as your salvation, if you have lost them.”

He enjoined the church elders to give advice that will expand the ministry and to always be on the part of progress.

In his remark, the new general overseer called for the support and cooperation of the members, noting that through God’s grace, the legacies, faith and founding principles of the ministry would never be eroded.
