Church organises free medical treatment for community
The Kingdom of Light Ministries (KLM), Idimu, Lagos, last week, organised free eye test, as well as, give glasses to community members, as part of its social Christian responsibility. The church, in collaboration with Kingdom Care Group (a department within the church) also carried out such screening exercises as blood group test, diabetes and hepatitis B at its headquarters.
Speaking on the programme, which started 10 years ago, the church’s Presiding Pastor, Dr. Samson Makinwa, said the aim was to address health challenges of Nigerians and “that is why we engaged the services of medical doctors, nurses, laboratory scientists and other medical personnel to talk about the health of people in this community and Lagos State in general.
“Dr. Violet Iheanacho, who attended to patients spoke on depression, as a mood disorder that causes low mood, sadness and why they should avoid it. She also urged the people to seek medical attention immediately they notice changes in their body system, especially now that we are experiencing serious economic challenges.
“Kingdom of Light Ministries, through the Kingdom Care Group, also sponsors less privileged children on scholarship at all levels from primary to university. We built borehole, where people in the community collect free water from, as well as, street lights, aside maintaining the surrounding roads in the locality,” he said.
