Change is constant; this is also applicable to divine wisdom. At conception, the human foetus progressively developed to embryo, then to identifiable baby and finally born. From here, the baby gradually progressed from infancy to adulthood, aged and then death. This also happens to the grasses in the field and the trees in the forest. This is in accordance with the divine plans of creation, hence man, the highest creature of God, seamlessly grow from one stage of life to the other. The Devil’s intrusion into divine plan, however, disrupted this seamless change, as the Devil took over the control of the earth God handed over to man, thereby causing conflicts and struggles.

For the desired progressive change to take place, especially in the economy and material things, man must subject himself to hard work. Devil’s intervention in man’s life brought sin, which separated man from God and resulting to man struggling to eke out a living and also to take good care of himself. God, for His mercy therefore, promised a new order that will lighten the yoke of man. This promise is stated in Isaiah 43:19-21: “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. 20: The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen. 21: This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.”

God made a promise of new thing for His people. He will bless them with things they least expected. This will happen to anyone who have accepted the reconciliation programme of our Lord Jesus Christ, embracing Him as Lord and Saviour. This will lead to renouncing Satan and all his works, removing the yoke of sin and its bondages from everyone who has accepted our Lord Jesus Christ. When this happens, the chosen ones will come under God’s banner of love for the provision of all good things, as well as for His protection.

If you look at that scripture again God says He will provide waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. This simply means making difficult things easy and near impossibilities possible and easy to access. I have always told my congregation that success is not attained through struggling because anyone who is obedient to God can never lack anything good. God will always make provisions for him/her even amid scarcity. This enjoyment amid general lack will naturally bring happiness in the life of God’s people, leading them to singing a new song as the Bible states in Jeremiah 31:22: “How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? For the Lord hath created a new thing in the earth, a woman shall compass a man.”

God is telling us to look up to Him; draw nearer to Him at all times and never to be distracted by the Devil. This is because looking elsewhere will attract the enemy in our lives. A deeper interpretation of this verse brings to the fore the teachings of most contemporary Bible teachers who claim that the passage means that Israel, contrary to the practice of women, will woo the Lord, her divine husband. However, older expositors almost unanimously took the verse to be the virgin birth of the Messiah. Their arguments are in four folds:
i. The “new thing in the earth” would require an unprecedented event or character.
ii. The word “create” implies an act of divine power.
iii. The term “woman” demands an individual rather than entire nation.
iv. The word “man” is properly used as God (Isaiah 9:6).

God’s promise of a new thing on earth. The new thing is interpreted to be the virgin birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible makes it clear that if anyone is in Christ such a person is a new creature, old things are passed away hence all things are made new. In Christ Jesus, as many as embrace Him will experience a new birth and good things according to the will of God. They will begin to dominate and control the resources within their environment. This is the plan of God right from the onset of creation, when God issued a management mandate in Genesis 1:28-29: “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. 29: And God said, behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.”

This is the divine Magna Carta (management charter) for all scientific and material progress. Man began with a mind that was perfect in its finite (limited) capacity of learning, but he did not knowing all the secrets of the universe. He is commanded to “subdue.” This means to acquire a knowledge and mastery over his material environment, to bring its elements into the service of the race. This is divine instruction that needs the wisdom of God to understand. We should, therefore, embrace God to teach us the secret things of the universe that will give us the knowledge to subdue the earth. The earth is our own and we are to manage the resources to our fullest benefits. God is set to do a new thing on earth and the best approach to benefit from this new thing is by drawing closer, at all times, to Him.

One of the new things God is set to do this New Year, is to open to His children the secrets of the knowledge of the universe where there are business opportunities and progress; where there are children, husbands, wives, miracles, houses and cars. For the people who are in Christ Jesus, their lives this New Year will be characterised by dominion over their environment, restoration of whatever they have lost, and will experience explosion of miracles and grace. God’s children will in this New Year be driven by miracles for as long as they sincerely depend on Him.

It is important to note that God made it clear in Deuteronomy 8:18 that: “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant, which He sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.” It should be noted that anything any man has, is given to him by God. The Bible is reminding us in this scripture that God has given us the power to get wealth. In this New Year, He has decided to do a new thing. He will include in our lives the wisdom and knowledge for wealth creation and the acumen to manage the resources our round us. Then as God does a new thing in your life, remember that the heartbeat of God at all times is evangelism; soul winning. It is in the preparation of the saints for the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Doing this properly and regularly, God will give you all round blessing in Jesus’ name.
