Rhema Christian Church and Towers has announced its Rhema World Convention 2026, and 35th anniversary of the church scheduled to hold from November 1 to 8, 2026, at Champion Peace Cathedral, Sango-Ota, Ogun State.

The Presiding Bishop/Pastor-General of the church, Archbishop Taiwo Akinola, disclosed this last Tuesday during the press conference held at Champion Peace Cathedral, Conference Hall in Sango-Ota.

Explaining the theme: “More Than Conquerors” taken from Romans 8:37, the Presiding Bishop said, “this is not merely a declaration of personal victory but a call to spiritual courage, responsible leadership, and decisive action in confronting national challenges…”

He sincerely thanked God for sustainingthe ministry over the years as well as the privilege of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and raising men and women of His power, purity, and purpose.

He said the Convention would bring together believers, ministers, families, youths, senior citizens, and participants from diverse backgrounds for spiritual renewal, sound biblical teaching, fervent prayers, heartfelt worship, and life-transforming encounters with the supernatural power of God.

Calling on Christians to remain steadfast and hopeful, Akinola said believers could triumph through the unfailing grace and power of Jesus Christ. He quoted 2 Corinthians 2:14, which says,“Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ.”

“As we celebrate thirty-five years of God’s faithfulness, we reaffirm our commitment to raising spiritually vibrant believers whose lives demonstrate integrity, compassion, responsible citizenship, and positive contributions to society,” Akinola said.

On 2027 general elections, the cleric called on the government, political leaders, institutions, and citizens to renew their commitment to justice, accountability, national unity, and people-centred governance.

According to him, Nigeria possesses enormous human and material resources. Nevertheless, persistent insecurity, economic hardship, unemployment, healthcare deficiencies, substance abuse, and threats to food safety demand urgent and coordinated responses. He said that Nigerians should use the forthcoming elections to strengthen democratic institutions and demand responsible governance.

He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, political parties, candidates, and civil society organisations to work towards peaceful, transparent, inclusive, and credible elections.

Condemning vote-buying, intimidation, electoral violence, religious manipulation, and misinformation, Akinola urged young Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate responsibly in the electoral process.

He called on the Church to remain non-partisan and advocate for justice, truth, and good governance, adding that they must educate consciences rather than dictate political choices.

He decried drug abuse particularly among young Nigerians and urged stronger collaboration among the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), schools, parents, healthcare professionals, religious institutions, and community leaders.

Also on healthcare, the Archbishop urged government at all levels to prioritise functional primary healthcare centres, affordable health insurance, essential medicines, maternal and child healthcare, emergency services, and improved welfare for medical personnel.

He said: “Greater investment in preventive healthcare, immunisation, nutrition, sanitation, and mental health services is equally necessary.Healthcare expenditure must produce measurable improvements in service delivery. No Nigerian should be denied essential medical attention merely because of poverty.”

On job creation, the cleric noted that unemployment, inadequate earnings, and limited economic opportunities had frustrated the aspirations of many Nigerians. He called on government to strengthen the conditions for job creation through reliable electricity, improved infrastructure, access to affordable financing, and support for agriculture, manufacturing, technology, and small businesses, while advicing educational institutions to collaborate more closely with industry to promote practical skills, vocational training, entrepreneurship, and employability.

Akinola said: “We also encourage faith-based organisations, private enterprises, and philanthropists to complement these efforts through mentorship, skills acquisition, and enterprise development. Our young people must be recognised as partners in national development, not merely as instruments of political mobilization.”

On rising cost of living,Akinola said high cost of food, transportation, housing, electricity, education, and healthcare had continued to place considerable pressure on Nigerian households.

He urged the government to strengthen domestic production, food security, agricultural storage, transportation infrastructure, and properly targeted social protection programmes.
