The hour you think not – Part 4
Matt. 24:44 says, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”
Those who do not accomplish their days in expectation of the coming of the Son of Man should take cognisance of the fact that if He does not come now, the probability that they may die suddenly is high and undisputable. Therefore, if you are among them and have decided not to prepare for His coming, it is prudent that you prepare for your inevitable death of which you know not the hour.
Matt. 25: 1-10 says, “Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.”
I want to let you know that among the virgins, some were foolish and some were wise. And it’s just as we have among Christians, some are wise but some are foolish. Some Christians are endeavouring to maintain purity and get ready at all times, but some are careless, waiting for when the trumpet shall sound so that they will prepare, but it will be too late. This is because once the trumpet sounded and the saints gone, it will be all over. So, if you are reading this message, be you ready for such an hour you think not the Son of Man cometh.
In the context above, it was at midnight, when nothing was more important than sleep, when the entire body needed rest and no man was expected to be on the road, and then the bridegroom appeared. It may be when you are entering your new mansion, new SUV, at the bank withdrawing your millions or when you are celebrating your exploit that He comes. Such will be the case of those who put off their repentance and preparation for another hour, till they are surprised by death or rapture.
Take note that the Bridegroom will certainly come, at His own time; and then all shall be called upon, both prepared and unprepared, to go forth to meet Him. He will come to render to every one according to his deeds, and reward both body and soul for all the services they have done for Him.
Beloved, the Lord’s admonition is to watch. Watch what you do in the office, market, house, and on the road. Watch what you say, your dressing, association etc., and whether you are young or old does not really matter. He says to all, ‘Watch that you may be found in peace, without spot, and blameless for you know not the hour He will call you through rapture or death.’
