In times like this

They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them, (Ps 34:5-7)

In times like this when the desirable is not available and the available has turned desirable, when caregivers, life coaches and salvation centres, inclusive of religious, educational and traditional institutions, judiciary and security agencies are now killer representatives – when there are more enemies within than without, we must carefully make distinct choices of who or what to look at.

Who/What To Look Unto Or Look Not

Thus saith the Lord, cursed is the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord (Jer. 17:5). The maker of man knew him better than any psychologist; He forewarned man not to put his trust in another to avoid heartbreaks and aches. Loved ones, trusted friends and close associates have caused blood pressure and death of others due to betrayal of trust.

Circumstances. And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived (Num. 21:9).

Looking at the serpents, which constitute the circumstances is very daisy because it contravenes divine model. The same flying serpent/circumstances that killed some gave testimonies to others.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endued the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb. 12:2). No nation or person is exempted from trials, but God is the only one among the three who is up; so, if you want to go up, the choice is yours to look up. The best way to look at God is through consistent study and practice of His word in faith and obedience.

Friend, one cannot grow beyond what he is yet to give God; therefore, I will hand over my entire life to Him. Pray with me: “Oh Lord! In times like this, I withdraw my eyes from men and circumstances and focus on you in Jesus name!”
