Life is journey – Part 1
Life is a journey. Like every other journey; you may never know what the tide holds for you. Accidents could happen, despite how careful you may assume. In this journey, if one seats down to count the dangers looming in it, no one will dare journey. To this, some never begin their journey; others stop at stopovers, never to continue, while few continue and stop before the last destination. Only few positively make it to the end.
The journey of life is decided not by length of days, but by the light illuminating the direction and the decisions made. Our choice in life determines our chance in the future. Speed, steady and slow when and where necessary are the beauty of the arrival. A journey of few miles could last for a thousand hours depending on acceleration, and a journey of no mile could never be reached as a result of carelessness.
Therefore said the Preacher: “The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the wise, nor riches to men of understanding nor favour to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all,” Ecclesiastics 9:11.
Let me, therefore, take you through a spiritual ride, to a path that has left many mighty wounded. It is a path, which no one can claim to be a superman. The strength and success of the victors are hidden in their source of grease. The anointing makes the difference. Not the take-off point of the journey that poses the ultimate challenge, but taking careful note of all the points presented through the journey.
There is never a short cut to greatness. In life’s journey like in our traffic journey there are several points through it:
i. A take-off point
ii. A hold-up point
iii. A go-slow point
iv. A blocked point
v. A narrow point
vi. A stopover point
vii. A dangerous point
viii. A checkpoint
ix. An easy-ride point (the broad way – watch your speed)
x. An arrival point
These points are as important, good, uncertain (therefore faith is needed), and dangerous for the overall testimony of the journey journal. But it is the end that really matters. None of these points are of less importance than the other.
1. A Take-Off Point
This is the beginning of the journey, a time of preparation. The journey of life begins with:
• The decision to ride,
• The route to ply,
• The company to ride with,
• The vessel to use,
• The resources needed
• The time to take off.
All these form the foundation for a successful takeoff.
Negligence of any of the aforementioned could lead to the end of the journey. Therefore, the foundation of every journey is very important.
The importance of foundation made the psalmist in 11:3 to say: “If the foundations are destroyed what can the righteous do?”
