Make your choice – Part 1

Text: Deuteronomy 30:15-20;
Key Verse: Deuteronomy 30:19: “I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live,” (NKJV).

Moses the great man of God gathered, his people, the people of Israel to address them after leading Israel out of Egypt, prior to crossing into the promised land — the land of Canaan. The Book of Deuteronomy is like a Book of recap and as Moses was addressing them, recapping all that God Has done for His people and encouraging them to hold on to their God and not to allow the enemy play any pranks on them. Moses said to the people of Israel, I have placed before you life and death, blessing and curse; therefore choose life so that you and your children may live. ‘Life’ will only come when you choose to remain in God and ‘death’ will surely come when you have nothing to do with God. This is not just about going to church or reading your bible or trying to be a good man, for it is about refusing to realize that there is a God who made you and all other creations. He made the little creatures that we know about today and the big and small ones being discovered everyday by scientists.

Choosing God saves your life from spiritual death, which the Bible calls the second death. When our first parents, Adam and Eve rebelled against God in the Garden of Eden, they walked immediately into spiritual death.

And today, everyone who doesn’t have God is a child of spiritual death. He may be alive physically; he may be alive academically, mentally and all that, but he is spiritually dead. He has no relationship with God because he has chosen by himself to keep himself away from God. When you reject God from your life; when you refuse to acknowledge the God factor; when you refuse to give God the honour that is due Him; when you refuse to give God the reverence that is due Him; when you refuse to give God the respect that is due Him and when you say you don’t care if God exists as if you brought yourself into this world, you are then dishonouring God. It is a very sad thing to dishonour God who has given you breath. It is the God’s breath in you that makes you a living soul.

The best choice anyone will make on this side of Heaven is to give his/her life to Jesus. It is spiritual intelligence to make a choice to surrender to the Lord completely. Make Jesus your choice today. You have the opportunity today to receive the message of God through the Saviour of the world into your life. If you give your life to God today through Jesus Christ and if you allow God to take over your life, all the bad seeds that the Devil has injected into your life to block your eyes away from eternity, to block your ears away from the gospel, to block your mind so that you become spiritually blind and to make you spiritually uncaring, shall be totally broken off. The choice is personal and must be made today. You are faced with a decision that must be made today. Make your choice today and I pray the Holy Spirit will help you to choose Jesus Christ and you will be set free.
