A lot of people, including believers today, are limited and tormented by the giant called “Fear.” Fear can befalls on anybody, irrespective of size, gender, race, colour or status. Fear can prevent a man from entering into his place of destiny. From the story we read in Num.13:30-33, we can see that the Anakims did not stop the Israelites from entering their promised land, rather they were stopped by fear. What they saw made an impression in their mind and by their interpretation they understood it as death and limitation. Really, they all died in the wilderness, save for Joshua and Caleb who entered the promised land.

Many people today, cannot fulfill their destiny because of this same giant called fear. Some cannot enjoy a good relationship because of all the negative things they have heard about marriage or even the unpleasant experiences they have had. It is important to understand what this giant called fear really is.

Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something dangerous is likely to cause pain or great threat. It is also a tool used by the devil to create misery in the life of a believer and to eventually destroy him. Again, fear is the opposite of faith. As a matter of fact, fear is having faith in the devil, Mk. 4:40. It is a killer of faith. Fear is a window through which the devil afflicts a man.

When you hear that your neighbour died of high blood pressure and you are diagnosed of such, the spirit of fear will begin to tell you that you will die of it too. This alone can torment you to the point of death even when your case is a minor one. Also, fear is an atom of witchcraft manipulation. It is an agenda of the enemy to steal your glory. Imagine the Israelites, having scaled through the red sea and all the fiery darts of the wilderness only to get to the edge of their breakthrough to be manipulated by fear. They confessed that they were not able. The voice of fear was speaking through them.

May God silence every voice of fear limiting you in Jesus’ name. Fear is a negative expectation that takes advantage of your imagination. A woman who has suffered series of miscarriages, wakes up every morning expecting to see herself bleeding in the next pregnancy. Fear can create strong holds of negative imaginations in a man.

There are certain facts about fear that we need to know. The first of them is that, not everything you are afraid of is real. F.E.A.R is an acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real.

Secondly, fear has two meanings. One is (Forget Everything And Run), while the other is (Face Everything And Rise). When the Israelites saw the Anakims, they forgot all their achievements and fled for fear, but when David saw Goliath, he faced him with boldness and from that day he rose to the top. I pray for you, today, that whatever has been confronting you will become your stepping stone to rise to your greatness in Jesus’ name…Amen!

The third fact is that the devil will always use the giant of fear to stop you from entering your promised land or inheritance. Some people do not want to take any venture because of fear of failure, yet they end up becoming a failure. David had to first conquer the fear ushered in from Goliath and thus, he was able to conquer Goliath. Again, fear is so powerful that it can dominate your thoughts and focus. It draws attention to itself. Fear is a spirit from the devil, not from God as we see in 2Tim. 1:7.

A fearful person lacks a sound mind. Note also that fear can lead to frustration. Fear enslaves a man and puts him in a spiritual cage. Fear will make you focus on the negatives or bad things that can happen to you. What you are constantly afraid of will eventually happen, Job 3:25.

Lastly, fear often comes from a lie that the devil whispers or tells us. The spirit of fear is a disembodied entity looking for a body to manifest and express itself. It is, therefore, not something to toy with. You must deal with it before it gets the better part of you.
