Pastor Daysman Oyakhilome has emphasised the importance of prayer in building effective cell ministries, describing it as the foundation upon which successful evangelism and soul winning are established.

Speaking during a recent sermon, the cleric said prayer is more than a spiritual discipline, explaining that it prepares the way for God’s work long before believers engage in evangelistic activities.

According to him, Christians who devote themselves to prayer are not labouring alone, as God actively works behind the scenes to prepare hearts and create opportunities for the gospel.

Drawing from the biblical account of Cornelius and the Apostle Peter in Acts 10, Pastor Oyakhilome said the passage illustrates God’s coordinated involvement in evangelism.

He noted that while an angel instructed Cornelius to send for Peter, God was simultaneously preparing Peter through a vision, demonstrating how both the messenger and the recipient were divinely positioned before their encounter.

The pastor urged cell leaders to place greater emphasis on prayer rather than relying solely on human effort or organisational strategies.

According to him, prayer helps prepare hearts, removes obstacles and opens doors for the gospel to reach people at the appropriate time.

“You are not running the cell alone,” he said, reminding believers that God remains actively involved in the work of evangelism.

He added that although practical strategies are valuable, they become most effective when supported by consistent prayer.

Pastor Oyakhilome concluded by encouraging Christians to remain steadfast in prayer, expressing his conviction that a praying church is better positioned to receive divine direction and fulfil its evangelistic mission with greater effectiveness.

He said sustained prayer enables believers to make a greater impact in advancing the Great Commission through faithful and purposeful ministry.
