Position yourself for 2020

Next year, 2020 will mark the end and beginning of the decade. The number 2020 is prophetic; two twos and two zeros. Does 2020 have any spiritual connotation? Yes, it does.

None of us is coming into the New Year blank. There must have been a carryover of what God is working out in you before now or something new He will start in you or in the nation. So, 2020 may be a continuation of what God has started or a fulfillment of what He had already started. It may also be a new beginning entirely in what He plans to do.

How do we position ourselves for what God will unravel in 2020? God has said that 2020 will be a year of opportunities, but also full of challenges. Imagery that fits how we are to position ourselves is the situation of the children of Israel when they stood on the border of the land of Canaan, behind them was Egypt, which they had left and before they was the Promised Land. The challenge was how would they cross over to possess the land. They lacked faith and courage to go ahead because they had been demoralized by the report of ten scouts who surveyed the land and spoke about the presence of giants in the land.

However, while the majority were paralyzed by the report, Joshua and Caleb stood out from the crowd by their faith. They were ready to march into the Promised Land by faith.

To be victorious in 2020 we need faith. By faith, Joshua and Caleb entered and possessed the Promised Land. The other Israelites lacked faith therefore they perished in the wilderness. Faith is clinging on to the unseen until it becomes real. Faith is the key to unlocking the treasures of 2020. I call 2020 the year of Double Doors. The number 2020 is a double digit. In Isaiah 45:1, God promised to open before Cyrus double doors and to gives him the hidden treasures of secret places.

As we position ourselves for what God would unravel in 2020, we must listen and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. He knows the way and how best we are to move forward. Those who are insensitive to the Holy Spirit in 2020 will miss the mark. Just as the children of Israel were guided by the Shekinah presence of God in the wilderness, the Holy Spirit has been given to us to guide us and to teach us. Though the economic and political terrain will remain tough, yet 2020 will be a year of double blessings and double opportunities for those who walk by faith. To exploit the opportunities we must be led and guided by the Holy Spirit.

Depend on Christ for His strength and wisdom to see you through the trials, challenges, and problems of 2020. Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Like Paul, you too can do all things through Christ. You can scale walls and do exploits through Christ in 2020. You can achieve impossible goals in 2020. David said, “For by You I can run against a troop, By my God, I can leap over a wall” (Psalms‬

Those who will be successful in 2020, must rely on the word of God. The word of God is our compass and our confidence in the Lord to accomplish all things.
