The Lagos City division of The Salvation Army had just concluded its yearly programme popularly known as ‘Back to Bethel’ on Sunday, April 28, 2019. Originally, called the ‘Divisional Revival Programme’ the three-day event began on Friday, April 26 to Sunday 28, 2019, at The Salvation Army, Ejigbo Corps.

Speaking at the event, the Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army Lagos City Division, Major Pius Ugochukwu in his welcome address said it was a privilege and a rare opportunity to witness such a holistic blessing that cannot be found elsewhere other than the programmme.

“Therefore, I urge you to make good use of your time here to concentrate on the programme and consecrate all there is of you to the Holy Spirit of God by separating yourself from anything that is likely to distract you from receiving your blessings from God.

“May I also draw your attention to the origin of ‘Back to Bethel,’ it was the brain child of the then Divisional Commander of Lagos City Division, Major Benson Mgbebuihe, now Lieutenant Colonel and SBA. He caught the vision and marketed it well to the extent that it became a household name in Lagos Division and beyond.

“It started as Divisional Revival programme in year 2010 and was renamed ‘Back to Bethel’ in the year 2012. Ever since then, the programme has drawn a lot of people and speakers from within and outside the Army.”

The programme tagged: Breaking the siege of the enemies, according to the Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army Lagos City Division, Major Pius Ugochukwu “the spiritual blessings and conversional growth cannot be quantified.”

In an effort to sustain the programme as a tandem of spiritual revival force to reckon with in the comity of body of Christ; 10 acres of land was purchased in Mowe in Ogun State. This year marks the 10th edition of the programme and by the help of God, we have marshaled out plans to conduct year 2021 ‘Back to Bethel’ in the permanent camp ground in Mowe by means of stands and stage constructions as pivot of fully possessing the land of the surrounding communities.”

In a speech delivered by the guest speaker, Lieutenant Colonel Benson Mgbebuihe, on the theme of the programmme, he said: “When you hear from God and follow His instructions, the devil will go back to his kingdom. Every believer must be alert in the spirit. The enemy will always lay siege against us when we are sleeping. We must have a good heart and relationship with God. When you know the God you serve, the enemies cannot prevail over you because there is that spiritual strength. I tell you today, if the voice of God doesn’t come to you, wake up now.

“Human beings are not your enemies to be précised, but every human that is attacking your life are instruments in the hands of demons and if you want to begin to fight humans you miss the target. Some of us, our faith has been contaminated. We are not fighting against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers. Stop fighting against flesh and blood.”

The programme also featured the Territorial Commander/Territorial President of Women’s Ministries, Colonel Victor and Rose-Marie Leslie, Evangelist Chidi Okafor, Divisional Leader, Major Rita Ugochukwu, among others.
