That prison must open – Part 3
Genesis 3:23-24 states, “Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the Garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the Garden of Eden cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.”
ADAM’S sin against his Creator earned him automatic loss of bliss of communion with God and thus, he became confined to tilling the ground as a means of livelihood. When the going was good, he had the privilege of meeting with God, Who made available all that he needed. But when the relationship got soured, as a result of sin, he was shut out of that communion with God and restricted to the ground, where he sought his needs with suffering. His new abode is a place of toil, a prison where his new life is regulated and therefore limited. Although Adam and Eve were shut out from the privileges granted by their innocence, but not abandoned to despair, as God designed a second state of probation for their descendants upon a new term. This new term was meant to quicken them to look for life and happiness in the promised Seed, by whom a new and living way into the holiest is laid open.
So, without doubt, sin is the cause of our problems. Every limitation in our lives is as a result of sin, including any prison experience. But a gateway out of the prison has been availed by God Almighty and hinged on the premise of repentance, which ushers us into the gateway of salvation. Jesus Christ, as the propitiator between God, and us is that gateway. If you will repent today and give your life to Jesus Christ, you will have all things supplied to you, according to His grace and above all, have victory in all your endeavours. This is a divine assurance, which has been attested to by all regenerated souls. But if you choose to remain in sin, then you have chosen to remain in prison, discontentment, lack and suffering.
1John 3: 8 says, “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
Whosoever that commits sin and chooses to remain in sin has chosen to be in the devil’s confinement, where hindrances, lacks, diseases, broken homes, pain and despondency are the order of the day. Seeing these myriads of problems, Christ emerged to destroy the devil’s works and grant man comprehensive freedom. This supposes that mankind had been in bonds and captivity, shut and locked up in the prison of the dominion of sin and its accompanying problems. But the Son of God came to rescue him, to knock off his fetters, and to set him at liberty.
Judge 2: 11-15 says, “And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim: 12 And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger. 13. And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth. 14 And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies. 15 Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed. 16 Nevertheless the LORD raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.”
Every sin has its punishment and is enough to cause your imprisonment, regardless of how little it is considered or who committed it. When Israel sinned by forsaking the Lord and serving Baal, God raised a persecutor to punish them. But when they realised their sin, repented from it and asked for forgiveness from God, He made available a judge who delivered them from persecution. Remember that they were God’s people, but when they committed sin, God didn’t excuse them because they were His people. God is not a respecter of persons. The same God Who called them His Children was the same God that committed them into the hand of an oppressor. Respite only came when they repented and demonstrated remorse. The truth remains that God’s benevolence is available, even now for as many as will take advantage of God’s Grace to repent from wickedness and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
Beloved, if you die in sin, you will go to hellfire, so amend your ways now. Please, don’t condemn my preaching, for I am preaching to bring you out of sorrow to joy, so that you can make heaven at last. I want to let you know that sin brings imprisonment, it is the cause of God abandoning you, and cause of afflictions and troubles. So, if you can come out from sin today, I am assuring you that the Lord shall deliver you from any prison you found yourself. It is very clear that, when anybody goes into sin, Satan will capture the person and God will turn away from such person. If you belong to the devil, he will continue to give you what he has, which are oppression, torment and prison. So, I urge you to make up your mind to come out of sin and maintain righteousness.
2Chro. 16:9 says, “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars.”We must come to the understanding of the fact that God is the embodiment of knowledge. Therefore, He knows everything about us and none is hidden from Him. We can neither conceal from God any crime, nor prevent Him from punishing us from such sin. As certainly as He reigns in Heaven, every iniquity, unless it be repented of and forgiven through the blood of Christ, will take the sinner in its fatal cords, and hold him fast bound in the prison of the world or hell fire. But those whose hearts are upright with God are sure of His protection and have all the reasons in the world to depend upon it. God is able to protect them in the way of their duty, because He is the Custodian of wisdom and might, and actually has planned their protection thus will never allow them be in any form of prison. I am sure that if you repent today and accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour, that prison experience you have been subjected to must cease and you shall be freed in Jesus name.
