Today, many of us God’s children have lost the power God gave to us. Some lost theirs to sin, some to over activity, neglect, depending on the energy of the flesh, native wisdom and so on. John 1:12 says it is power to become children of God. (KJV) But today, where is your power of prayer, fasting faith, holiness, praise, influence, giving, service, witnessing, visitation, miracles, healing/praying for the sick, deliverance and other gifts of the Holy Spirit? Is your story not summed up with this phrase, “once upon a time.” Think and think, do you still command same power as of old? Are demons not making fun of you? It is indeed tragic to lose your power. But this is not the end. There can be a turnaround.

If you will co-operate with God, it can be restored.
(B) The Restoration of Lost Power- (vs. 5-7)

The power that made the axe head to swim is still available for us today. For you to be restored, you must take the following steps:

• Stop Working- But you might say how could he cut down trees when the axe head was gone? But today, that is what many of us are doing. We are still attempting to cut down trees, when the axe head is gone. Stand still; take time to examine yourself. Don’t continue without divine power.

• Confess to the Lord – Tell Jesus you have lost the power He gave you. Be like the man who cried, alas master, it was borrowed.

• Show the Lord the place where it fell – This is a step further in your confession. Tell Him exactly where you lost touch. Maybe you were puffed up with your success and begin to distrust or doubt Him. Maybe you were contaminated by a friend’s life or misled by his advice. May be you developed a new interest in a book, TV Programme, game or event robbing you of your time with Him. Show Him the place.

• Obey God’s new Directive- Reach out and take it again- The casting of the wood signifies the power of the cross; the power that brings forfeited blessings within reach. At the bidding of the Lord, reach out for it in faith, receive ye the power of the Holy Spirit.

Conclusion
If you would take these four steps, the head of the axe shall swim. The so-called impossible shall be made possible. Probably the stick went down for the axe head to float. No doubt, the smallest trouble, which comes upon a servant of God or upon a community of man engaged in this service, is a matter for divine help. If you have not surrendered your life to the Lord, do so now. There is the power that saves from sin, Satan and shame in Jesus Christ. He shall save and lift you up. Come to Him today; make no delay. He is waiting for you. You can receive the power of His adoption today.
