Where is the God of my father?
2nd Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Our God has a way of dealing with His people to prove orderliness in the scheme of things. There is no doubt that He has the ability to do all things, with regards to protection, provision of all human necessities and giving eternal life to all humans who serve Him. There are conditions for everything a man enjoys from God. He is a mathematical God who follows laid down rules in doing things. When a man serves God with all his heart, God, in turn, ensures protection and provisions for the person. On the other hand, whoever forsakes God is allowed to suffer afflictions from the enemies’ hands. Although the Israelites are special people of God, a tribe of priests, yet whenever they derail, no time is wasted in handing them over to their enemies for torments and afflictions. The Bible is awash with records of the Israelites being tormented and impoverished by their enemies, and in most cases, for seven or twenty years. The Israelites did evil in the sight of the Lord and He handed them over to the Midianites, who prevailed over them for seven years. These warriors would come in their numbers with their cattle and eat up all the Israelites’ farm produce, to the extent the Israelites were living in fear of their enemies.
However, as the lead scripture advocated, if the people will humble themselves and pray, He will answer them. As the Israelites cried to God for intervention, He answered them by empowering Gideon to lead them to defeat the Midianites. Judges 6: 13-18 says “And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.13 And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? And where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? But now the Lord hath forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.14 And the Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee? 15 And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? Behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.16 And the Lord said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.17 And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me.18 Depart not hence, I pray thee, until I come unto thee, and bring forth my present, and set it before thee. And he said I will tarry until thou come again”. God does not change; He is the unchangeable changer. The power He demonstrated in the days of Abraham can still be displayed even in the present day. Gideon is asking where is the God that delivered the Israelites from the house of bondage in Egypt, while the Midianites were ravaging them, taking away their farm crops. According to Gideon in his argument with the Angel of God that visited him on his farm, if the God of their fathers, who rescued them from the bondage in Egypt was still alive, He would not have allowed the Midianites continue to enslave them, even in the Promised Land. God’s power and nature do not change; rather, the people He deals with change and disappoints at the slightest trial and temptation. The Israelites are fond of obsessing over foreign gods that have nothing to offer. Reason has taken flight from the mind of the Israelites, which made them abandon the Supreme God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of their fathers for foreign gods. Hence, God handed them over to the Midianites to torment. That was why God allowed their enemies to torment them mercilessly.
But Psalm 78:1-8 says, “Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. 2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: 3 Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. 4 We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come to the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and the wonderful works that he hath done. 5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: 6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: 7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: 8 And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God”. Our God will not allow His glory given to another. He wants His children in all generations to continue the declaration of His good works and to pass it on to their children, even to the unborn generation. The moment that glory is attributed to another god, the person will be left to his devices, until he or she repents. Our God is alive and always ready to give protection to His people. The culture of unbreakable service to Him should be handed down to our children from time to time so that they will not derail in their own time. This is a divine counsel to all Christians and the disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. There is a warning in Ezekiel 33:1-6 thus, “Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman: 3 If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people; 4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword comes, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. 5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took no warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul. 6 But if the watchman sees the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword comes, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand”. It is, therefore, expedient that all children of God should understand where their problems are coming from. The Word of God is preached at all times, yet people continue to suffer in the hands of the Devil and his agents, so much so that some people begin to ask where is their God? Many Christians suffer poverty, barrenness, afflictions, disappointment in life endeavours and all other problems. Many are tempted to ask if God is no longer alive. We all should re-evaluate our lives and our relationship with God. God may not intervene in your life when one leg is in the house of God and the other leg is in the house of a native doctor, occult masters, and even money ritual outfit. Some will preach against alcoholism yet go in their closet or other secret places to drink it, commit fornication or adultery. God is watching. The warning above is for all Christians. If you adhere to it, God will surely intervene in your case and deliver you from any affliction and Devil’s bondage. You should also bear in mind that the focus is heaven. In all your actions, remember that the trumpet may sound at any time. We should be in preparation for the rapture so that none of us will be taken unawares when our Lord Jesus Christ will come again to take away the saints for life eternal in heaven.
Testimony Of The Lord’s Doing Salvation Begets Blessing
Matt6:33 “But Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto ye.”
SALVATION is a free gift God gives to everyone that comes to Him in repentance. And there is a great joy in Heaven over a sinner that repents. So in my case, l know that Heaven is rejoicing because of me.
My name is Brother P. Onyeje, and I reside at Wilmer Cresent, Olodi Apapa. Formerly, I was practising cultism when l was in the East and was heading a group called Ogbaje Group. We specialised in stealing, robbing, kidnapping, smoking, drinking, and fighting. I operated with a pistol back then, and I was the youth president in my former church, name (withheld). I continued with this lifestyle until one day, while I was in my house in the village I heard a voice telling me to go to my local government (Umunneochi L.G.A in Abia State). So, I boarded a bike and the voice gently told me to tell the bike man to reduce his speed and go slowly. I did that, and the bike man reduced his speed. As we continued on the journey, it was like something turned my view to the other side, where I saw a signboard. I saw a man holding a microphone and he was smiling at me. I was confused and I told the bike man to move faster. When I got to the local government, the gentile voice told me to tell the bike man to turn back, which he did. As we were returning, something turned my view to the other side again, and I saw the signboard, with the same man was holding a microphone smiling at me. I asked myself what was the meaning of that. After that day, I could not sleep at night again. I was restless, though I could recall that what I saw on that signboard was “The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement.” After this encounter with the G.O on the signboard, we planned to go and kidnap someone. I was the strategist that planned how the operation was going to be. (This happened in 2008). After the planning, I went home. On the night, we were supposed to go for the operation, I slept off and had a dream where I saw myself in a place and I saw the man smiling at me on the signboard talking to us till I woke up the next morning. I couldn’t go for that operation again. My gang members were surprised because it was unlike me. I committed several atrocities, but nobody knew. Even my parents didn’t know about my lifestyle because I looked so innocent. My gang members blamed me for disappointing them, but I never knew that something was operating in me. We planned several operations, but when I got home, I would sleep off and have an encounter with the man smiling at me on the signboard till the next day. After that, I said it was too much but I couldn’t open up to my gang members until I decided to come to Lagos because I was persuaded to do so. The last meeting I had before I left them in 2008, we soaked ourselves in alcohol and smokes Indian hemp like chimneys. I told my gang members that I would travel, and I handed my pistol and dagger to one of them. I came to Lagos and one of my cousins accommodated me. He told me that he was a member of The Chosen and asked if I would follow him to his church. I was surprised but I decided to follow him. I came to this place in 2009. After Sunday School, the main service started. I was sitting opposite the pulpit when I saw the Pastor. He looked exactly like the man smiling at me on the signboard, I listened to his message and when he started the salvation message, it was as if he was talking directly to me. I felt ashamed of myself and eventually gave myself to Jesus Christ. After the service, it was as if I had entered heaven. The next day, I picked up a megaphone and started preaching. My former gang members traced me to Lagos and when they saw me, one of them said, “Really! Of truth, you are a changed person. If someone like you could change, I will also change.” Since then, I have continued in faith as a Chosen. Praise the Lord!
I want to appreciate the name of the Lord for granting me salvation and making me a Chosen. May His name be glorified forever in Jesus name!
