Why is God silent on our nation? – Part 2

Gbenga Odubanjo

• God is silent in our nation, when we give God’s enemies opportunity to blaspheme His name.

Christians put in the place of authority abuse the privilege and we try to justify ourselves. Now, God has replaced the qualified with the unqualified because of the abuse of power.

Our character is questionable in our place of work, nothing to show that we are God’s children. Everything we are warned not to do has become our lifestyle. These things are not traceable to our Lord Jesus Christ. Very soon, we all shall give account of our handworks.

• God is silent in our nation, when the blood of the innocent is shed for filthy lucre. Fathers are sacrificing their children and sons are killing their mothers because of money. We want to become rich at the expense of others, and the society celebrates such acts. And we expect God to be happy with us?

• God is silent in our nation, when there is no love. Though we speak love, we don’t act in love. Jesus Christ said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

John 13:34-35. To show love to others is not an option, it is a command, and it doesn’t matter whether we are from different ethnic groups or churches. Whoever does not practise love does not know God, because He is love. 1John 4:8.

The Way Out:
Let all our Priests call for a solemn assembly, “Consecrate a fast, Call a sacred assembly; Gather the elders And all the inhabitants of the land Into the house of the LORD your God, And cry out to the LORD.” Joel 1:14. Let us repent from our wicked ways. Let our Priest call on God that we have sinned as a nation.

“If my people, who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14. Let our Prophets arise and prophesy truth, let them speak the mind of God to us without the fear of people.

“Then the Spirit entered me when He spoke to me, and set me on my feet; and I heard Him who spoke to me. And He said to me: “Son of man, I am sending you to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that has rebelled against Me they and their fathers have transgressed against Me to this very day.”

Ezekiel 2:2-3. Let our pastors teach sound doctrines and disciple the people. Let them feed the sheep with God’s Word, and not feed on them. “… He said to him, “Feed My lambs.”… He said to him, “Tend My sheep” … Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.” John 21:15-17. Let our evangelist go out and tell the people the mind of God. “…and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” Let us Christians live by the truth and be good ambassadors of Jesus Christ. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Matthew 5:16. These are the things we are expected to be doing, instead of building Cathedrals that are beautiful outside but spiritually decaying. Then shall our God arise in His mercy, sweep our nation with His fire, and then a new Nigeria will emerge.
