Power is highly sought after by every being both in heaven and on earth. It is the sought for power that made Lucifer to desire of being on the same position with God. It is because of this inordinate ambition that Lucifer was cast out of heaven, down to the earth after he was defeated in a fierce battle, led by Angel Michael for God. Rev.12v7-9: “And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not, neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out that old serpent called the Devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world, he was cast out into the earth and his angels were cast out with him.”

Satan lost his position in heaven because he challenged God — the owner of all powers. Anyone that wants to acquire genuine power must approach God in His holiness and righteousness. You can only have power over the enemy when your lifestyle is embedded in holiness. One who is in the position of power can acquire whatever he wants, especially here on earth. One can lose any or all his/her possessions if the power equation is against him/her. It is because of the things power can do that make some people, especially evil people, to seek for it at all cost. God gives power hence the Bible in Luke 10:19 sates: ”Behold, l give unto you power to thread upon serpents and scorpions and all the powers of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Psalm 62:11 says: “God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this that power belongeth unto God.” Yes, power belongs to God! It is in demonstration of His power that He created everything in heaven and on earth. The entire solar system is His creation. The sun is the source of energy on earth; almost every living thing, even the entire inorganic earth resources need sun energy to survive. It is God that created the sun. In the lead scripture above, God instructed man to look upto Him for salvation and for survival. He has power to do all things and none of His words returns to Him void. It must accomplish the purpose it is meant. No other god living or dead has such enormous power. This statement cannot be disputed.

In creation and in relationship with the creatures, God has continued to demonstrate that power belongs to Him. In Isaiah 43:10-13 says: “Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am He: before Me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after Me.11: I, even I, Am the Lord; and beside Me there is no Saviour.12: I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are My witnesses, saith the Lord, that I am God.13: Yea, before the day was I am He; and there is none that can deliver out of My Hand: I will work, and who shall let it?”

God’s people can testify of His powers, having benefited in different ways from what He has done. No being has the capacity to challenge God; so, when He is set to carry out any project, no one can hinder Him. If for any reason one falls into His Hands there will be no one to deliver him/her. All power belongs to Him.

As power belongs to God, He can also empower whosoever needs it. There is a promise that if we, His creatures, make request in prayers He will answer and do whatever our petition may be. In John 14:13-14, the Bible says: “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14: If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.” In His dictionary, there is no impossibility as the capacity to do all things is inherent in Him. For the people that believe in Him and the power to do all things, whatever they request for shall be granted. God uses man to further His recreation of replenishing the earth. He does this, the same way He empowers our Lord Jesus Christ for the purpose of carrying out His ministry on earth. Jesus Christ was 100 per cent man and God, while on earth. God who owns all powers gave Him the power of operation. Matthew 28:18-20 says: “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19: Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen!”

The Almighty God empowered our Lord Jesus Christ by giving Him authority in heaven and earth. Jesus Christ in turn empowered His disciples to go into the world to recover the lost souls for God, baptising the people in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, in preparation for His second coming to rapture the saints for eternal life in heaven. The power of God was clearly made manifest in our Lord Jesus Christ. It is through Him that the entire creation was made. Colossians 1:16-17 says: “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him. 17: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.”

God created all things, visible and invisible. God is capable of touching our lives for good through our Lord Jesus Christ. He has given us the mandate to depend on Him; to serve Him with our hearts and our needs will be taken care of. God cares for His people and even directed that we come to Him for rest. We are, therefore, to look unto Him for all our needs. He will provide for us in Jesus’ name.
