Third Mainland Bridge
Seven people were, yesterday burnt to death when a 14-passenger Mazda bus marked: KJA 699 GY was gutted by fire at Iyana Oworo, section of the Third Mainland bridge. The incident resulted in traffic gridlock along the axis.
After last week’s report by The Guardian on the return of potholes along major roads in Lagos metropolis, the state’ State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC) on Sunday carried out maintenance work on sections of the third mainland bridge and other roads.
Despite the negative impact of the activities of people operating under bridges across the state, which forced the government to at different times, issue the occupants a quit notice directing them to vacate the spaces, the directives have been repeatedly flouted.
