The Committee of e-Business Industry Heads (CeBIH) has elected Celestina Appeal, the head of Cards Business at Zenith Bank as its new Chairman, alongside other new exco members, who will run its affairs in the next one year.

Speaking at the event, the immediate past Chairman of CeBIH, Adeyemi Atanda, commented that although a lot was achieved during his tenure, the incoming executive has to do much more in promoting electronic payments and collaborations with all sectors of players in the Nigerian payment space.

While announcing the result of the election, which was earlier completed online, the Chairman of the electoral Committee, who is also a member of the Advisory Council of CeBIH, Stanley Jacob, said that holding an executive position in CeBIH is a serious task; owing to the pivotal role the committee plays in the Nigeria banking and payment industry.

He appreciated the immediate past executive committee for contributing meaningfully to the growth of electronic payments in Nigeria, particularly during the lockdown occasioned by Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

In her response after the inauguration of the new executives, the new Chairman, Celestina Appeal in her acceptance speech appreciated members of the committee for the confidence they have reposed in her and other members of the new exco.

She promised that the team will live up to the expectations and will build on the contributions of previous administrations of CeBIH to raise the bar of excellence in service provision in the payments industry.

She highlighted some of her plans, which include broadening the financial capacity of the organization and making CeBIH a more independent body.
