Social Spoon targets business growth through digital visibility, audience strategy

Chukwu Chisom Prisca of Social Spoon

As social media becomes increasingly important to how businesses find customers and generate sales, Nigerian digital marketing agency Social Spoon is seeking to help entrepreneurs turn online visibility into commercial opportunities.

Founded in 2023 by Chukwu Chisom Prisca, Social Spoon provides digital marketing services focused on helping businesses strengthen their online presence, identify relevant audiences and improve how they use social platforms to support sales.

The agency also provides support to individuals and businesses dealing with disabled or suspended Instagram and Facebook accounts, an area that founder Chisom says emerged partly from her own experiences navigating problems with social media platforms.

For many small businesses, social media has evolved beyond a channel for simply displaying products. Platforms such as Instagram and Facebook can serve as storefronts, customer-service channels and tools for generating leads.

But visibility alone does not necessarily translate into revenue.

Businesses still have to identify potential customers, communicate their value effectively and develop strategies capable of turning attention into action.

It is within this space that Chisom is positioning Social Spoon.

Rather than treating follower numbers as the primary measure of digital success, the agency’s approach focuses on connecting businesses with audiences considered relevant to their products and services.

For smaller businesses with limited marketing resources, reaching the right potential customers can be more valuable than accumulating large audiences that generate little commercial activity.

Social Spoon’s account-support service addresses another vulnerability created by businesses’ increasing dependence on third-party digital platforms.

Losing access to a social media account can interrupt communication with customers and affect a business that relies heavily on the platform for visibility and enquiries.

Chisom’s interest in that problem preceded the establishment of the agency.

She said difficulties encountered with her own social media accounts, coupled with challenges finding appropriate assistance, prompted her to develop greater knowledge of the digital ecosystem and consider how similar support could be provided to others.

That experience eventually became part of the business model behind Social Spoon.

Chisom’s entry into digital marketing, however, began while she was studying Accountancy at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

She attended the institution between 2019 and 2024, but her interest in digital marketing developed during her first year as an undergraduate.

During a disruption to academic activities caused by an Academic Staff Union of Universities strike, her father enrolled her in a digital marketing course.

What began as additional training gradually developed into a professional interest.

Chisom continued building her digital marketing skills after academic activities resumed and eventually established Social Spoon in 2023, before completing her university education.

Originally from Enugu State and raised in Jos, Plateau State, Chisom has also developed experience as a lifestyle content creator and wig influencer.

That involvement in content creation has given her experience on both sides of the social media ecosystem, as a creator seeking to attract and retain an audience and as a marketer helping businesses use those audiences more strategically.

Beyond providing services to clients, Chisom has also incorporated digital education into her work.

She periodically provides free training and educational resources alongside paid courses focused on practical digital skills.

The objective, according to Chisom, is to help participants develop skills that can be applied to entrepreneurship, self-employment and other income-generating opportunities.

It also reflects a wider ambition for Social Spoon beyond providing marketing services to established businesses.

For Chisom, digital marketing can offer individuals an entry point into the digital economy, whether they use the skills to promote their own businesses or provide services to others.

The long-term goal for Social Spoon is therefore twofold: helping businesses improve how they operate and market themselves online, while expanding access to practical digital skills.

For a company established only in 2023, building a durable position in Nigeria’s crowded digital marketing industry will require demonstrating that its strategies can deliver measurable value for clients.

As more Nigerian businesses compete for attention online, however, the underlying challenge Social Spoon is attempting to address is becoming increasingly relevant.

Having an online presence is one thing. Knowing how to turn that presence into an audience, and ultimately into business, is another.
