In a historic moment underscoring the growing global influence of Nigerians in leadership, Queenesther Ebinum has been elected as the 2026 National President of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Scotland, becoming the 79th individual to hold the position.
The announcement was made at the JCI Scotland Annual General Meeting, where members from across the country gathered to review the organisation’s progress and elect a new executive team to guide its next chapter.
JCI, a global leadership organisation active in more than 100 countries, is dedicated to developing young professionals and creating positive change within communities.
A PMO Analyst and consultant by profession, Queenesther assumed office as National President following the expiration of the tenure of Laird Faichney-Smith, which was marked by strategic growth and strengthened national engagement.
Her leadership agenda is built around visibility, leadership development, and long-term sustainability, aligned with the 2026 JCI World Theme, ‘Lead, Connect, Evolve.’
Her election also represents a significant moment for women in leadership, particularly for African women leading within European institutions. At a time when global conversations continue around representation and inclusion, Queenesther’s emergence reinforces the expanding space for diverse female voices in decision-making roles.
Reflecting on her journey, she shared that her involvement with JCI began during a beach clean-up initiative in Aberdeen, sparked by curiosity and a desire to contribute. Since then, she has remained actively engaged in national initiatives.
“Leadership is about creating opportunities for others to grow. My vision is to strengthen connections and empower young people to step confidently into leadership roles within their communities,” she said.
As national president, Queenesther has reaffirmed her commitment to working alongside the national board and local chapter leaders to enhance JCI Scotland’s visibility and long-term sustainability.
