Rotary visits Lagos old peoples home, donates items worth N1.5m

Rotary International District 9111 Committee for the Elders has donated items worth N1.5m to the Old Peoples Home, Yaba, Lagos during a visit to the home recently. The items were wheelchairs, washing machine, plastic chairs and rice.

The District 9111 Governor, Rotary International, District 9111, Prince Henry Akinyele, who made the donation on behalf of the Committee for the Elders, said the items were given in line with the Rotary International’s commitment to service, adding that elders deserve to be loved and adequately catered for.

‘’As members of Rotary International, we believe in serving humanity, in giving and continuous giving.”

The Chairman of the District Elders Committee, Mr. Olaniyan Fafowora, stated that giving to elders is the main objective of the committee.

He lauded the exercise and raised the hope of still coming back to empower the elders in the home.

Director, Elders Care Services, Mrs. Adetutu Ipaye, appreciated the Rotary International District 9111 Committee for the elders for the donation.

The members of Rotary International on the visit identified with the inmates and sang with them while one of the hosts prayed for the visiting Rotarians.

Past Assistant Governor (PAG) Sola Benson; PAG Kehinde Amao; and Rotarians Ronke Akanni and Akeem Babs were part of the visit.
