Paints and coatings company, Chemical and Allied Products (CAP) PLC, has marked the second anniversary of its Women’s Inclusive Network for Growth and Success (WINGS) with a nationwide outreach initiative supporting women and vulnerable communities across Nigeria.
The activities, held in commemoration of the milestone and in alignment with global Women’s Month celebrations, included visits to Noble Homes Orphanage in Kubwa, Federal Capital Territory; Eghosa Orphanage Home in Benin, Edo State; and communities in Gaya and Madobi Local Government Areas of Kano State.
CAP PLC female employees volunteered across these locations to deliver essential supplies, including food and clothing items, engage with women and children in the communities, and organize workshops on hygiene, personal care, and practical health and wellbeing practices for women and girls.
“WINGS reflects our belief that inclusive organisations are better positioned to create meaningful impact both within the workplace and in the communities they serve,” said Bolarin Okunowo, Managing Director of CAP PLC and Chairperson of WINGS.
“The initiative was created to strengthen leadership opportunities for women within CAP and across our communities. In industries such as manufacturing, where women remain underrepresented in leadership, mentorship and access to strong professional networks can make a significant difference. Over the past two years, WINGS has evolved into a structured programme focused on mentorship, leadership development, and community outreach, and we remain committed to expanding its reach and impact in the years ahead.”
The week-long activities concluded with a commemorative anniversary event in Lagos, bringing together employees and external partners to reflect on the progress of the initiative and reaffirm CAP PLC’s commitment to advancing women’s empowerment within the organisation and beyond.
The anniversary also marked a governance milestone for the initiative as the founding President of WINGS, Aramide Nwokediuko, the CAP’s Company Secretary & Head of Corporate Services, completed her tenure, handing over the reins to Ijeoma Barnaby-Nsikak, Regional Sales Manager (Lagos 1), and Adefolahan Ojo, Regional Sales Manager (North Central 1), as Co-Presidents of WINGS. The leadership structure reflects the program’s emphasis on shared leadership, collaboration, and expanding opportunities for women across the organisation.
Since its launch, WINGS has reached over six communities across Nigeria, supporting women and children through a combination of mentorship, health education, and community outreach initiatives. The programme has mobilised employee volunteers across the country, while also empowering CAP PLC’s female employees through targeted leadership development programmes, skills training workshops, and structured mentorship pathways designed to accelerate career growth and foster a culture of inclusion within the organisation.
As the initiative enters its third year, CAP PLC plans to expand its mentorship network, strengthen community engagement, and deepen programmes designed to support women’s economic and social advancement across Nigeria.
