2027: Kwara needs people-centred leader, APC groups wish

All Progressives Congress (APC)

Members of political groups in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara South district of Kwara State have endorsed the aspiration of the fomer chairman of the party, Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa’s 2027 governorship ambition.

In their separate events organised by the groups in Offa, Offa local government and Iloffa in the Oke Ero local government areas, they agreed that the state needs a leader that is prepared and people-centred, “at a time like this when our state faces both opportunities and challenges”.

It is recalled that party leaders, former political office holders, party loyalists, and members of the APC in the Moro, Ifelodun and Ekiti local government areas had earlier organized political meetings where they endorsed second term ambition of President Bola Tinubu and governorship aspiration of BOB in their areas.

Speaking in Offa and Iloffa, the leader of the APC Offa Solidarity Movement, Prince Olubunmi Isioye and the convener of APC Progressive Network for BOB 2027, Engineer Shittu Muideen, said the party’s constitution does not support rotation or zoning of governorship position.

The APC former publicity secretary, Tajudeen Folaranmi said: “It is a constitutional right for all intending political office holders to seek mandate of the people. Zoning is a convenience agreement and not binding on the aspirants.

“There is no zoning in APC. BOB has constitutional right to contest 2027 governorship position. He worked for the success of the party during the 2019 as a chairman of APC in the state,” he stated.

They all agreed that BOB is a unifier and mobilizer, noting that his entry into 2027 governorship race had brought back a large number of people who had hitherto left the party.

They urged delegates, stakeholders, and every member of the party to rally behind BOB they described as: “a leader who will turn our hopes into action, our vision into progress, and our dreams into lasting reality”.

“Hon. Dr. Bolarinwa is more than a name. He is a symbol of purposeful and transformative leadership. His record speaks loudly and clearly. Over the years, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to welfare of our people, backed by experience, insight, and a practical understanding of governance,” they hinted.

Speaking on the past legislative experience of the governorship aspirant, Engineer Muideen said that BOB championed policies that empower our youth, strengthen communities, and stimulate economic growth while serving as a legislator.

“As a leader, he exemplifies transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness; values that are essential for building trust and delivering real progress.

Also speaking, former deputy speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly (KWHA), Rt. Hon. Raphael Adetiba, said that BOB possesses qualities required of a leader that the state needs going forward.

“At a time like this when our state faces both immense opportunities and pressing challenges, we need a leader who is prepared, passionate, and people-centered.

“Hon. Dr. Bolarinwa possesses the competence, compassion, and courage required to move our state forward. He is a unifier, a problem solver, and above all, a servant leader,” he stressed.
