Bandits and armed groups allegedly operating under the guise of Fulani militancy have again attacked Kogot village in Vwang (Vom) District of Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing two persons in the latest incident of violence in the area.
The attack reportedly occurred late on 11th May, 2026 at about 11:00pm.
Local sources identified the victims as Ngo Shettu Badung, 78, and Mr. Danjuma Badung, 52, who were said to have been killed inside the same family compound.
The incident comes amid rising tensions in the district, following the arrest and continued detention of eight local vigilante members from Vwang at Danwal in Ganawuri Chiefdom, which residents say has heightened insecurity concerns in the area.
Meanwhile, the Berom Youths Moulder-Association (BYM) has also condemned a separate attack in Kyeng village, Bachi District of Riyom Local Government Area, where two youths were killed by suspected armed attackers.
According to BYM National Publicity Secretary, Rwang Tengwong, the victims—Peter Dung, 22, and Amos Bele Danbwarang, 19—were ambushed and shot dead around 7:20pm before the attackers fled into nearby bushes.
He described the killings as “barbaric and inhuman,” alleging that they form part of sustained attacks on rural communities in Plateau State.
The association called on security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice for the victims.
It also urged government at all levels to take urgent and decisive action to halt the recurring violence affecting communities across the state.
