On Monday, 13 July 2026, Pastor Folu Adeboye, the wife of Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), marks her 78th birthday. For more than five decades, she has been a beacon of womanhood, embodying gentleness, kindness, thoughtfulness, and sensitivity, while tirelessly ensuring that no one is left behind.
A Heart of Hospitality
Pastor Folu Adeboye is renowned for her extraordinary gift of hospitality. Her husband fondly calls her a “born giver,” and her children recall her selflessness—even serving guests at the expense of her own family’s comfort. Visitors to Redemption City have experienced this generosity firsthand, welcomed with African attire and nourished with traditional delicacies such as pounded yams. During annual conventions, thousands are fed daily, with more than enough food for everyone.
Her hospitality extends beyond Redemption City. She has opened her home to stranded individuals, with testimonies of miracles following such kindness. Even in moments of grief, she has shown compassion, as seen in 2014 when she accompanied her husband to comfort the family of Emeritus Professor J.F. Ade Ajayi, bringing food sufficient for an entire community.
Compassion in Action
Her generosity has inspired the establishment of maternity centres, health centres, and the Redeemer’s Health Village, a facility equipped with modern medical technology to serve those whose faith may need support. Guided by Matthew 25:34–35, she has devoted herself to caring for widows, orphans, the elderly, and vulnerable populations worldwide, living out the words: “For I was hungry, and you gave me meat: I was thirsty, and you gave me drink: I was a stranger, and you took me in.”

Pastor Folu Adeboye made history as the first woman ordained as a Pastor in RCCG. Her ordination in 1975 was groundbreaking, and she prayed fervently for more women to be ordained. Today, women serve as missionaries and lead prayer meetings at RCCG’s Holy Ghost services, attended by thousands.
Her vision also inspired the Feast of Esther, a ministry that empowers women leaders, widows, and wives of General Overseers through prayer, study, and worship. Inspired by Queen Esther’s courage, the programme underscores the indispensable role of women in spiritual and societal progress.
Global Influence and Recognition
Her missionary zeal extends through the Friends of Jesus (FOJ) network, broadening her impact worldwide. Despite her trailblazing role, she prefers to work quietly behind the scenes, avoiding publicity while inspiring women to innovate and support their families. Her contributions have earned recognition locally and internationally, including her appointment as Chancellor of Caleb University.
A Legacy Worth Emulating
Pastor Folu Adeboye is a selfless visionary whose life of service continues to inspire generations. As she celebrates her 78th birthday, we honor her unwavering devotion to God, her compassion for humanity, and her commitment to advancing the role of women in society.
We wish her long life, good health, immeasurable joy, and continued abundance. Her legacy is one of faith, generosity, and leadership. It is a legacy worthy of emulation by women everywhere.
