A prominent football administrator, Bello Yusuf Saulawa, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of chairmanship of the Katsina State Football Association (KFA), promising a new era of grassroots football development, good governance, transparency, and improved welfare for football stakeholders across the state.

Speaking while announcing his ambition, Saulawa, said his decision to seek the office was driven by his passion for the growth of football in Katsina State and his desire to reposition the game to meet modern standards.

The aspirant further said that football remains a powerful tool for youth empowerment, social cohesion, and economic development, adding that the State possesses abundant talent capable of excelling nationally and internationally if properly nurtured.

He further said that grassroots football development will be the cornerstone of his administration if elected.

Saulawa assured to establish sustainable youth football programmes, strengthen local leagues, organize age-grade competitions, and work closely with schools, community clubs, coaches, and football academies to identify and develop young talents across the 34 local government areas of the state.

He also promised to promote good governance within the Football association by ensuring fairness, accountability, and inclusiveness in all its activities.

According to him, football administration should be based on integrity, professionalism, and collective decision-making that will inspire confidence among clubs, players, referees, coaches, and other stakeholders.

On transparency, the chairmanship aspirant, he assured members of the football community that his administration would operate an open-door policy, where financial transactions, programmes, and decisions of the association would be carried out with accountability and regular engagement with stakeholders.

Recognizing the vital role being played by football stakeholders, Saulawa pledged to prioritize the welfare of players, coaches, referees, club officials, and football administrators.

He also stated that improving their welfare would motivate them to contribute more effectively to the development of the game.

According to him, empowerment as a key pillar of his agenda, promising to create opportunities through capacity-building programmes, coaching and refereeing courses, football management workshops, and partnerships with relevant organizations to enhance skills and career prospects within the football ecosystem.

Saulawa called on delegates and members of the football association in Katsina State to support his vision, assuring them that his administration would unite stakeholders and work tirelessly to restore the state’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading producers of football talent.

He expressed confidence that, with collective support and commitment, Katsina football can witness significant progress through improved administration, stronger grassroots structures, enhanced welfare programmes, and transparent leadership that will benefit present and future generations.
