Osun SSG released from police custody

The Secretary to the Osun State Government (SSG), Teslim Igbalaye, who was arrested by the Police, alongside five other suspects on Wednesday has been released.

It is recalled that the Police confirmed Igbalaye’s arrest in his Oroki Estate residence with other suspects for alleged vote buying, while a cash sum of N4.8 million, two voters cards, voter register and photocopy machines were recovered from the scene.

But the spokesperson for The Imole Campaign Council (TICC), Pelumi Olajengbesi, in a statement announced that the SSG has regained his freedom after spending a night in Police custody.

However, it could not be ascertained if one Abiodun Oladele Arowomole, popularly known as Ashipa, wanted for alleged murder and four other suspects arrested with Igbalaye were released.

Olajengbesi appreciated “the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu and the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, for listening to the voice of reason despite pressure and for responding to the people’s demand regarding the unlawful arrest of the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Igbalaye Teslim.

“The Nigerian Police Force best serves the nation when it stands against oppression and upholds justice and the rule of law. Welcome back, Chief Igbalaye Teslim. Your courage and sacrifice for the people of Osun State will not be forgotten. Our SSG is out, back and solid, “he stated.
